in #running7 years ago

Raining is also known as the "sleepy weather" but for us people with get in shape goals raining is just like any other day. Having the discipline to get up and gear up for a run earns you not only physical rewards but also emotional strength since it gives your body a sense of accomplishment and the feeling that you can overcome anything. It tells your mind that you can fight the laziness brought by this cold weather. All you have to do is go to the gym run on a treadmill and everything is fine right? Well Yes and No. Treadmill is the best option when you have an access to a treadmill but for us people that has an access to a park running outside is still the best option. It may not be ideal but you can do the run just by watching out for these things:

  1. Slippery when wet

There are runners who still runs the same pace even if its running cats and dogs. We should bear in mind that we are more prone to injuries when the road is slippery. It may be like a common sense but others disregard it thinking they have a goal distance on this day. Lets face it, we can not run as fast as when there is a good weather but the important thing is you still move even if it is slow.

Tip : Try running alternately. Jog on wet roads then run on dry areas with roof. It will also help your muscles have an alternate activity of having stress and rest.

Tip: If you really want to maintain your good weather pace, run on roads for vehicles. It has more friction than jogging paths. Just look out for vehicles:

  1. Water Puddles

Water Puddles are like traps waiting to be triggered. If you are not looking at the road you will be soaking wet from it. Another thing, if a vehicle ran over it on a fast speed you will have an unplanned shower and I know you don't want that.

  1. Bad Raining Gears

You should watch out for your raining gear when running on such weather. I prefer wearing my sauna suit with hood so I can still feel warm while running. You can use old shoes that is still in good condition so that your new shoes won't be wet.

So that is all for now! I will be sharing more so please stay tuned.
