Are elders always right??

in #writing7 years ago

I grew up in a community where it is believed that whatever an elderly person says is correct and right, as far as they are concerned, grey hair is a sign of wisdom.

Several times I have found myself in a state of confusion, deciding whether to trust my will on a certain situation, or go by an elders advice. sometimes it pays off when I go with the former, other times it doesn't. If the latter is the case, they make sure they sing it to me that what an elder sees while seating,a child cannot see it even if he/she climbs a tree.

I am not someone that disobey elders but I don't think they are always right and the credit of being wise should be earned, not dashed to all.

People back up the argument, saying that they are more experienced than youths, which makes them automatically wiser. I disagree with that because one doesn't have to wait for experience to learn, experience is not the only teacher, we can learn from people's mistake and research and I don't have to wait for grey hair to be wise, since am not foolish while am young.

This is just my own view and perspective, I will really love to hear from others.

They are not always right

Thanks for your contribution

Wow you nailed it dear.

Thank you Vic

Ur welcome keep up the good post dear.

They can't be always right if not for any reason for the fact they are humans.. Though we the younger folks can pick their brain and tap from their wisdom. And sometimes u need to experience things for yourself so as to learn from them and become a better person. Failure or mistakes doesn't mean the end, rather they can be the stepping stones that will spring us up when we learn from them and work on them.

Thanks dear for the insight

These days what people respect and pay attn to is money and the people that are controlling the money,no matter how wise and old someone is these days if you do not have money, not much people respects you or even listen to you, but people fail to understand that Wisdom really does come with age, scientists say.

Although older people's brains slow down, experience and knowledge make up for for the speed ,i wish the youths of today retrace their steps so that the confidence of gray haired men and women are being restored back so that even they our old men and women will not be tempted to fall into the temptation of selling their integrity cause of money.hope i made small sense sha?

You made a whole lot of sense, thanks for this
