I. Scope of Analysis

The analysis is performed on data extracted from STEEMData database. Three sets of data used:

Data includes all posts and variables for #tr in January 2018

Data includes all posts and variables for #tr in December 2017

Daily Statistical data for #tr in January 2018

The analysis of the data includes comparison between December 2017 and January 2018 based on number of authors, posts, comments, upvotes and sum of total payments. To assess daily performance of #tr all those information is analyzed also daily. Popular tags used by community and platforms used by community is analyzed. Top 10 posts with highest payouts is also presented. And the analysis includes summary of all results.

II. Results

1. Data Comparison (December 2017 vs January 2018)

Screenshot_3 (1).png

As you can see from the graph in December 2017 we have 979 authors (unique authors who created posts using the tag #tr) and in January 2018 we have new authors. Number of authors who posts in #tr community is 1599. So it is obvious that community is becoming bigger each month. We can see that from the number of posts. In December 2017 there are 8461 posts and in January 2018 there are 15046 posts created under the #tr tag. That is 77% higher than the number in December 2017. The number of comments are also increased in same way from 40025 to 53380. However it is interesting that the number of upvotes did not change so much. The change in number of upvotes is from 128365 to 129940. Also sum of total payouts in each months has huge difference. It increases from 37504.196 to 57314.116, if we think that the number of upvotes did not change much, is it possible to think that the voting power of the community increases? It is a reasonable thought, however I think the real reason is “utopian” which we will analyse in the platforms section. Huge percentage of total payouts comes from utopian which will be analysed in next sections.

2. Daily Statistics for January 2018

Screenshot_8.png

Daily statistics for January 2018 is stated on the table above. Each part of the table is analysed and reviewed below.

2.1. Number of Authors

Screenshot_16.png

The number of authors are differentiated between 229 and 342. January 1 is the first day of the year (holiday in many countries) it is possible that many people do not posts that they. Even though we have 229 unique authors who contributes to the community. It is the day with the least number of unique authors. So if there is at least 229 authors who contributes to the community it is one of the most important communities in STEEM. (maybe not in top 5-10, but it is one of the most important ones) So the last day of the month we have 342 unique authors who post using the #tr tag. So also thinking about the data we have above (data of December 2017) it should be underlined that the community becomes bigger from day to day.

2.2. Number of Posts

Screenshot_17.png

Number of posts are between 400-600 daily. There is not any linear increasement or decreasement. There are few posts daily during the mid-month. However it has relation with number of authors. The number of posts per unique authors did not change so much during the month. So new authors, new posts, higher number of posts is an obvious observation.

2.3. Number of Comments

Screenshot_10.png

Number of comments has strong correlation with number of posts, it is normal that we have more comments if we have more posts (and also more authors). More authors means more people who visit the tag, check the post and read them. More readers mean more comments.

2.4. Number of Upvotes

Screenshot_18.png

Number of upvotes has huge decrement comparing from day 1 to day 31. Even though there are more people who contribute to the community and more people who comments more, it is interesting that there are less upvotes.

2.5. Sum of Total Payouts

Screenshot_9.png

Daily sum of total payouts are also decreased. It has correlation with number of upvotes. There are some peak days. In those days we have higher values for sum of total payouts, it has the reason of projects done by kusadasi, who is actually the most valuable contributor of the community as you can see from the top posts I analysed below. During days of projects, there are some increases.

3. Popular Tags, Top Posts

Screenshot_4 (1).png

The most popular tags in #tr community are “life”, “blog”, “cointurk”, “funny, “travel”, “kusadasi”, “translate”. “life”, “blog” and “travel” are common popular tags in STEEM community. In which users suppose to tell their daily life, their travel information etc. “cointurk” is a popular tag, the community has small contests which last 3-4 days managed by “kusadasi” which is another popular tag. For earn SBDs people should use “cointurk” tag, this is why it is a popular tag. When we analyse the platforms used by #tr community we will see that dmania and utopian are very popular platforms. So “funny” is mainly for posts in dmania and “translate” is for mainly for translation category in “utopian”.

Most of the posts are from or related with kusadasi, projects about cointurk. Also there are posts from omersurer who is also an utopian moderator. Congratulations to them!

4. Popular Platforms

Screenshot_7.png

Popular platforms for people who post with #tr tag are Steemit, Utopian, Esteem, Busy and Dmania according to the number of posts. 8466 posts are created on Steemit and 2186 posts are created on Utopian. The most selected platforms. If we think about what is Utopian and why does it exist, it should be stated that there is huge percentage for participation on the platform. Because all posts created on Utopian means (possible) contributions on open-source projects. On the other hand on steemit, esteem or busy users can create posts with any topic, without any limitation. So we should see that there are many contributors in Utopian from #tr communtiy.

Screenshot_5.png

Number of posts created on steemit is 3 times bigger than number of posts created on Utopian, even though sum of total payouts of posts created on utopian is bigger than sum of total payouts of posts created on steemit. As you can see from the percantage of total payouts 42% of total payouts are from posts created on Utopian, 42% of total rewards are from contribution on open-source projects. For a community in this size it is really important number. As we can see from tags used especially for translation part we have many contributors on Utopian from #tr community. The rewards from Steemit and busy are mainly from contest of kusadasi, but as we can see from the top posts there are also few posts with quality content and have good payouts. Also dmania is important for #tr community, 5% of sum total payouts are from here.

III. Summary

January 2018 is analysed using the data from STEEMData using Studio 3T and Microsoft Excel. Comparing with December 2017 all variables are getting higher in January 2018. Community becomes bigger from month to month and day to day according to number of posts, unique authors, upvotes and sum of total payouts. #tr community mainly uses Steemit, Utopian, Esteem, Busy and Dmania to create posts in STEEM community, got the most payouts from Utopian (translation category specifically) and from Steemit (contest under cointurk tag created by kusadasi)

IV. Tools and Codes

publicmongo.png

I used SteemData for data, which parses the STEEM blockchain for us, and provides the data as a fast and convenient MongoDB service.

Studio3T-on-a-Screen-657x427.x43859.png

I used Studio3T for analyzing data I got from SteemData. I used following code to get data and export data to Microsoft Excel. I created tables and charts I used for the post using Excel.

{ "created": { $gt: ISODate("2018-01-01T00:00:00.000+0000") }, $and: [ { "created": { $lt: ISODate("2018-02-01T00:00:00.000+0000") } }, { $and: [ { "tags": { $elemMatch: { $eq: "tr" } } } ] } ] }

Dear @onurkahveci, your contribution only looks into January 2018 data, mostly without reference to the previous months. The numbers of posts/comments/votes/payout/tags/apps is available for earlier times as well. Without reference, you can't tell much about this month. There are various metrics presented over the month, but there is not much analysis of those involved. Your conclusion compares January with previous months while this growth cannot be confirmed from only the January data.

Actually I also used data of december 2017 to compare the month with the latest one as you can see in the part 1. This is what I mentioned also in conclusion part.
