As the name proposes, 'Kalank' is a story that addresses the high ethics of society, particularly with regards to love and family ties. At the core of the story, the film centers around how unceasing adoration goes past the standards and tenets of society, the trappings of religion, and all other physical and man-made limits. At an emotional minute in the film, Aditya Roy Kapur's Dev comments that in the event that somebody's significant other is infatuated with another man, at that point what is the purpose of the marriage by any stretch of the imagination. In that viewpoint, author and executive Abhishek Varman's film make a solid point.

The story is situated in a town called Husnabad, close Lahore, a couple of years before the Partition of India and Pakistan. It's a town populated by metalworkers and a larger part of them are Muslims. Husband's most rich family is the Chaudhrys - Dev and his dad Balraj (Sanjay Dutt), who likewise run a liberal paper called The Daily News. Dev's life takes an abrupt turn when under bizarre conditions he gets hitched to Roop. Be that as it may, the complexities in the story are going to start. Without uncovering excessively, amid a visit to Bahaar Begum's chamber (where Roop is sharpening her music abilities) Roop meets Zafar, the nearby metal forger and after a few gatherings, they create solid affections for one another. The story appears as though it offers something new, however, the unpredictable connections and disastrous sentiments are regularly unsurprising. What's crisp about 'Kalank' is the treatment. This period dramatization is mounted on a sumptuous scale and whether it's the sets or the ensembles, everything about the film brings the glory alive.
