Wat Chaiwatthanaram is a valuable ancient temple (almost 400 years ago) and is one of the must-see temples in Ayutthaya Historical Park.

It is one of the ancient sites in the Ayutthaya Historical Park that was declared a World Heritage Site on December 13, 1992.

Visiting the temple will be a unique experience for you as the temple has beautiful and unique architecture; i.e. some of the pagodas were influenced by Khmer art, modeled after Angkor Wat.

According to the sign, there is “Stucco Relief Panel Depicting the Scene from the Life of the Buddha - Giving Sermon to His Mother on Dawadung Heaven”.

Besides, you can study Thai history from the ancient site as well.

This temple was built to commemorate the victory over Khmer. The word “Chai” comes from the word “Chaiyo” which means “victory”.

It was an announcement of the greatness of King Prasat Thong and all the victories he had achieved.
