Unravel the secrets of a space utopia in a game type metroidvania

Headlander, new game from Double Fine, puts the player in control of a head in a special station, trying to solve the disappearance of local crew. Will the game goes beyond its bizarre premise and can be a decent title exploration of gender in style metroidvania? Check the answer in our full review.

Exploring the space, but without losing the head
Headlander begins with the presentation of the main character, the last human alive in a Utopian space station. The problem is that it is just a head in a helmet, which explains why he did not speak a word during the entire game.

Using a propeller, you can fly with the head and with a vacuum cleaner, you can boot the head of robots around the scene and take care of their bodies. This is one of the great balconies Headlander, see that each type of robot has a different skill, and some have different colors and can open specific ports.
Because of this, it is common to get back and forth across the map, in possession of a new type of robot to open a door you did not have access before. As you progress you can unlock skills to the next helmet, something that becomes very useful in the title of the final sessions.
The 70 space
Headlander has a visual style that is strongly reminiscent of science fiction B movies made in the 70s Since the color palette used, soundtrack and type of buildings and characters scream for that time, something that makes fun and unique game.

So it is common to find map of the portions where everything is very colorful, as well as being able to interact with robots hippies who just want peace and love, even under the command of a tyrant artificial intelligence.
The Headlander map is immense, which will make you spend several hours exploring the rooms available in the game. The advantage is that the game is fast-paced, allowing you to study the scenery with ease.

Initially, the commands may seem strange, but a few minutes of practice, you can make miracles and go out fighting a legion of killer robots just browsing with your head in the scene.
When the story is in the background
The Headlander story is somewhat strange and often tries to use a nonsense mood to advance the plot. Unfortunately, she does not get to be as interesting as the rest of the presentation of the game. So it is very easy you just skip the story and advance the game just to complete it.

That does not mean it's boring. The gameplay is really fun, but the quality just makes the story even more embarrassed when everything is presented in this way.

Perhaps this is why the fight against the final boss is the most boring part of the game. While other enemies you encounter in Headlander require skill and intelligence played. The final boss asks just lucky to dodge a hail of shots that destroy your hero with only one hit.
The really sudden increase in difficulty in this end can make many people give up the game for a while or permanently.

Conclusion
Headlander is a very interesting game with a fun gameplay, track and stylish graphics and a huge map that will make you go back and forth the scene for hours, without fear of being happy. Some problems directly linked to its history, take a little of its luster, but the title does not cease to be a nice addition to the genre metroidvania.
