Yes you herd correct this is possible due to a new type of cable which is developed by both Microsoft, Facebook and Telxius in collaboration. The name of this cable is Marea.

This cable is submerged in sea between Virginia ,USA and Bilbao, Spain. The length of this cable is 4100 miles and this is currently the fastest internet speed between two points.

This project is completed in just two years which is a record. However in practical you will not get that much speed in your devices because the speed will get distributed. This cable is submerged under the sea in about 17000 feet. This cable will be used in upcoming 5 G network. This cable is different because different wavelengths and frequencies are used in a single fiber and from those special fibers entire cable is made. And after some distances amplifiers are placed to amplify the signal so that the signal do not get degrade. This new technology will definitely help in increasing internet speed across the world.
