AMD VEGA - gpu for gaming or hardware for mining??

in #technology7 years ago

AMD anunse recent that in 14 august 2017 will lunch the new GPU series coled VEGA.

This new family of GPU from AMD, has some improvements compared whit RX580 that was the top class for AMD so far but what I notice to be interesting is the new type of memory.

AMD lunched 3 models of high end GPU whit 8GM and 16 GB of HBM2 memory that will get close in performance whit Nvidia 1080 and 1080TI.

This new GPU will have a memory bandwidth from 400 GB/sec, for VEGA 54, to 512GB/sec on a top version.

But to compare the new VEGA whit the Nvidia , see this table :

Watching this table you will notice the power consumption of the new GPU from AMD are from 250 WATT to 350WATT for the weather cooler version.

The AMD say that this new GPU will need a 1000 WATT power to run only 1 card on a new system. That will make the PC a lot more ineffective and will put the new customer in a position to bay an expensive power supply.

How much powerful is this new generation of GPU ?!?!1? We don't know yet , but will discover after 14 august.

What interests me a lot is how good are this GPU for mining. The only one whit a good power consumption rate seem to be VEGA 54 whit only 250 TDP. But how will perform in mining is another story that I am waiting to discover in the next weeks.

What do you think?!?!?! Will this new GPU perform good in mining ?!?!?
