Murphy’s law

Let me tell you about the perfect morning in every mother’s life.  Or at least this is my thinking.

Like every other morning I got up to send my husband off to work. We got up like every other morning while he was getting himself all dressed up and ready for work, I was preparing breakfast and some coffee before we went out to the veranda. So calm, we sat down, hubby was eating his breakfast and I was drinking my coffee, when he asked me to please go get my cellphone, so I can send him a whattsup, to make sure his phone is switched to his work sim-card, so off I went to get my phone that was still in the bedroom.

I reached my phone and saw a message from a very special friend and decided to read it. It said “Friend I know it is past midnight but this message is meant for in the morning if I am still sleeping when you are off to school. I just want to say good luck with Amorey’s first day at school. It is hard but you will find peach after one week”.

It felt like I was dreaming because, I thought to myself do I have the wrong date because it will only be in 2 days time before she is going to school, but I knew if she sent a message it could only be today and certainly not on Tuesday like I thought.  In a big rush I phoned the school to ask them when the KG1’s are starting and the lady replied TODAY MAM.

It felt like my world was tumbling in.

My first reaction was we would never be ready in time for the first day of school. At this time she and my son was still sleeping and I was not ready to set foot out of my house. In a huge rush hubby and me woke the kids, I still had to iron her uniform that I washed yesterday, so I ran to the washroom to get the iron and ironing board, got the clothes and started to iron. Hubby dressed my son, and he went to feed her some porridge to tick breakfast of the list. I ran with the clothes to dress her, hubby fitted the socks and shoes and went to brush her teeth, by this time I was making sandwiches and packing the schoolbag, and mark the extra set of uniform that we had to send with the children on the first day.

Now both kids are dressed and it is only her hair. Got the brush and brushed all her hair into a ponytail. By now I was really feeling like a lost case, because I still had to get dressed, do make-up and hair, brush my teeth, and find the easiest was to pin up my hair, because there was no time left and my daughter wanted to leave for school.

So, while I was standing in front of the mirror I thought of everything to be grateful for, I really did not care how I looked or about this bad morning I woke up and the only thing that went through my mind was, this is a very special day for my last born, she had to be there in time and I wanted everything to be perfect. We had one-minute for a few photos at home before we left.

We got into the car and drove to school, I was so proud because I realized she was so happy to finally go to school. She was smiling all the way. My heart melted because she is a big girl now.

At school she quickly settled in and then said goodbye, smiled and waved at her brother and me.

So, after trying to get everything perfect for her fist day it is Murphy's law that today happened like it did

But, even if things do not work out as I planned it still worked out pretty good after all.

She had a perfect first day in the big school.

Here are some pictures of her first school day

You did great @busybeee. Shit happens and moms just know how to handle it when it hits the fan.
She looks super excited and happy to be at school for her first day!

Thank you @bdmomuae. I agree, we as parents would break a leg for our children as long as they are happy. She had a awesome day.

The wheels coming off on the first day, never fun but you got through it and that's what counts.

Your daughter looks very happy and relaxed which makes it a lot easier to accept the fact that she is now at school.

Nice story, thanks for sharing!!
