What if anybody wants to have 100 steemit accounts ? How can Steemit prevent from somebody create 100 s of account?

in #steemit7 years ago

As steemit is a decentralized social media, It is a little uncertain to know how it works for normal users. There are a lot of questions to be answered. Like a Facebook or Google, Sooner or later there will be a lot of fake accounts on Steemit. I think it will be a lot faster than those Social networks since Steemit has a financial optimization. So questions are

How many accounts one can create while sitting back to computer ?
What are rules and restrictions ?
What if somebody has email addresses and phone numbers ? Do they track IP address too?

On the other hand, As Social media are getting a part of person's life, people tend to have more than 1 social media account to devote other account for business , hobby , interest purpose . So can normal users have multiple accounts for different purposes?

I would like an answer from tech specialist who knows what is going on !

Thank you

Sort:

Because of the email + phone number restriction. their is at least some control over the creation of new accounts.

Depending on the security check steemit does. The 'scammers' will first need too buy another phone number. And maybe even another device, because of the IMEI number.

That being said, even then it would be more beneficial to write on a single account. Then to write for multiple small account with tiny voting power.

More then one account = More costs + less voting power

1.But What if somebody has a different interest like photography , politic , tech etc..... It is sure better focusing on certain niche for gathering audiences ..

2.So you mean Steemit can track Ip address and device ? What if somebody wants blog three different accounts from one device? Do you actually know the limitation number of accessing from one device ?

  1. I'm hoping that in the future, someone will build a 'steemit skin'. Where it's possible to sort your posts in different blogs.

  2. I don't know if Steemit is doing this . But using javascript it's possible to check the useragent. Which provides information about: ip, browser, screen resolution. So then it would be possible to detect a cheater who uses the same device.

Thank you , It is very informative comment. Do you know any way to find out if Steemit is doing tracking IP, browser .... As a newbie for this site , It would be very helpful if you give me a hint !

This is just my personal opinion. I guess having multiple accounts in steemit will not actually matter, why? Because everything depends on your steem power. Having multiple accounts will not give you any benefit, based on how I sees it. Voting power is not also unlimited. If you will notice, there are lots of posts that has $0.00 on it, there are lots of upvote but it didn't add even $0.01, why? Because again it all depends on your steem power. And again :) this is just based on how I see things right now :)
