HELP ME SHOW THAT STEEMIT IS MORE VALUABLE THAN YOUTUBE!

Tomorrow my Steemit account turns 1 month old! When I started it seemed that it was just another sharing site... then, things started happening. My posts were being shared, upvoted, followed. My Steemit Wallet started growing.

It was then I thought...

This might actually be worth more than YouTube!

See, I've been on YouTube for over 10 years. I've been creating videos in the homesteading niche for about 7 years. I've been seriously focused on this for over 4 years. The hours that have been poured into my YouTube videos and channel have been many.

Over this time I have attracted the attention of over 31,000 people. The all follow me as subscribers.

Much work has gone into the channel settings, the video descriptions, tags, thumbnail images... all in an effort to be liked and noticed by YouTube's algorithm as well as the users of YouTube.

I'm getting to a point

Stick with me

After a decade of effort, floundering around in the sea of creators in the YouTube system I have reached a point where I get a monthly check. I can't say exactly how much this is because I believe that would be breaking some YouTube rules.

However, let me tell you this

In my One (1) month on Steemit I have enjoyed community. My feed has over 240 followers (Thank you all!) and my Wallet is valued at over $635!

This amount is so very close!

So very close to what I get every month from YouTube! So here's the deal. I want to see if I can make in 1 month... my first month on Steemit what I make on YouTube after 7 long hard years of work!

With your upvote and resteem

I think we can make this happen! Help me show that Steemit is more valuable than YouTube!!

I am loving what I am seeing here at Steemit and the community of sharing without all the negatives I have seen at YT is giving me hopes for this new to me platform without all the trolls and haters! Resteemit and upvote!

I agree. It's (so far) a nice clean friendly place to share with greater rewards :)

So did it pass?

Nope, but I'm still very hopeful that this platform can help me find a way to tell my story in bigger and better ways :)

10 years?? Oh wow theres not much hope left for homesteaders on YT. Even the Rhodes had to do something drastic to keep up the growth. Ive only been on it for a few months and have made ZERO. Here, Im just behind you! Steemit all the way!

I wouldn't say I've been a homesteader on YouTube for 10 years. My first real "daddykirbs farm" video was about 7 years ago. I agree that it seems that you have to do some drastic things on YouTube to make things work in this genre.

There is no way that you will not be rolling in the steem in the near future. Your skills are evident and your persistance will pay off big time!!

I've been on YouTube for over 10 years too. At the beginning, I was make great money every month. Then suddenly, it started dropping. Last month, was the first time I didn't make the minimum of $100 in almost 7 years. At my height, I was making 10x that.

It's a sad story my friend, but all too common.

Well, there's only like 200,000 people on Steemit. There are Utubers that get that many views in the first hour of posting their video.

YT : 1,000,000,000+
ST : 200,000+

So, if you have 31k subscribers on YT, that is about 0.000031 of the accounts on YT. On ST, you have 246 followers, which is about 0.00123 of the accounts.

So, you are actually doing much better on Steemit than on YouTube.

Sweet maths my friend!

my mathematics is pretty bad..lol

I have been a follower since I started here. I didn't even know you had such a big following on YT. We were thinking about getting started on YT but we found Steemit, no YT for us!

YouTube isn't all bad... just so hard to get enough traction to make it sustainable. Thank you for following along!

that's true my friend.

I can tell you that I thought we where doing great on youtube with almost 13k Subs in just 6 months of consistent uploading. We have uploaded over 180 videos since we started and in a few days here I have made more than I do there per month lol. I only have like 66 subs here compared to almost 13k and 100k views per month there. You will blow youtube away in no time. The one thing I do like about Youtube how ever, is the residual. Some of my oldest videos pay me every single month for a few years now.

I totally agree about the residual revenue, but with consistent posts here it will be easy enough to keep up... I hope. Nice work on your Youtube and Steemit success!

How strange, my following feeds stop showing up!

I don't know if you @daddykirbs will make that milstone in so few days, but I see your hard efforts will reward you never-the-less. 😃

Thank you! It's so very close :)

You are welcomed, remember to show your appreciation to the followers who help you; I'm sure we have some posts worthy of comment, upvote, and resteem - cheers 😃

Thank you for that reminder. I have been trying to get around on Steemit to comment and upvote.

@daddykirbs The feeds are problematic but I can think of at least 2 ways around that. I find the biggest challenge is merely being able to comment to the follower(s).
The only way, atm, to do that is by replying on post (not a 3rd party's resteem) or if the follower made a comment somewhere else (like the 3rd party's resteem) then you can reply to his/her comment.

I have found a lot of interesting posts from followers and am actually rather burned out with all the resteemed contests by whales, though I see a merit in some of them and will resteem some. But as a minnow I see a greater merit in our population of steemit fish which is the largest population on steemit and thus a far greater opportunity imo.

Man I love to hear this for you. Glad to see it is working out. I'll upvote and resteem you for sure pal! Have a good one and keep up the great work!

Thank you my friend! It's a fun challenge :)

Congratulations on doing so well, right out of the gate here on Steemit, @daddykirbs! Steemit is pretty amazing, alright. It will be interesting to see how homesteaders treat Steemit over time.

One approach would be to treat it like somebody else's land, and harvest each crop, putting in enough effort and resources to keep the harvests coming every year. That's sort of like on YouTube, cultivating watch-time and taking the full revenue each month.

Another approach is to treat it like your own homestead, taking harvests, but also investing in increasing the productivity of the land. That's like having part of your YouTube earnings automatically invested in Google stock back when you started YouTube.

To me, the second approach is the power of Steemit. Our posts don't continue to earn like our YouTube videos. But we can build up our Steem Power for long-term residual income down the road.

Here's to success for you and all the homesteaders here on Steemit!

Beautifully stated :) Thank you.

You're welcome!
