Steemit will not grow as everyone expects as a social network because of its bad distribution of rewards.

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Good afternoon friends steemians today I have 34 days on this beautiful platform. As everyone started with a lot of encouragement to grow and be able to be read and recognized for my work, and as everyone also wanting my work to be remunerated decently. But as the vast majority I am currently disappointed since this platform has been monopolized by a small group of people that is affected thousands of users.

Source

When I say "Small group of people" I mean the so-called whales, they are a small group of users who have accumulated 85% of the cures per month and more than 90% of the rewards. And if you do not believe it, Steemit currently has more than 800,000 registered users, more than 60,000 active users per day. And those of those 800,000 more than 90% of the rewards are being distributed among some 4,000 users ie 0.5% of the rewards generated by steemit are distributed mostly among 0.5% of users. Sound crazy right?

And that really is not the problem, because if those so-called whales help the community in a correct way by genuinely bouncing post that are original without taking into account the reputation or Steem Power of the users, this platform will work in a very different way.

But it's not like that, the whales only exchange their vote among themselves and their other accounts, and it's true since I started contributing analysis of TA in cryptocurrencies I've really done interesting analyzes and I've never received more than $ 1 in one of my publications and what little I have received is thanks to a whale that I think is one of the few that help the community it is @hr1 I think it is one of the few whales that help the community grow.

A couple of days ago I reviewed the post of a #steemitultimatechallenge made by @dobartim that for my opinion is the person that helps the community the most. Since it has already a good time trying to make it grow by means of competitions that serve as great opportunities for all those fish that we find in this platform. I deviated from my main comments, reviewing those posts I saw a post that I had raised almost $ 1,000 which I found interesting, I immediately opened it to read it. When I read it, I saw only a couple of photos that were not of his authority written with meaningless words, and he asked me "God how could he have gathered so much with such a bad publication" when I reviewed his votes and comments I realized that he had more than 600 votes made by Bots, and I thought how can this be so unfair there are people who publish content 1,000 times better than that man and hopefully raise $ 1 in his publication and this man when making his post with Bots has raised almost 1,000 Dollars.

For that and many other faults I decided to make this post, to make a call to the developers of steemit to please take action on the matter. Because for my concept these problems are the cause of Steemit not grow. And in fact every day there are fewer active users and that is why they post 10 posts with good content and only 1 get more than 0.03 $ and I say it because it happens to me. The most likely thing is that if this post comes to have a little value I will be in the eye of a whale that will not like what I say and my reputation will go down. But I comply with my point of view.

I hope and this post reaches enough votes so that it is taken into account by someone who can take action on the matter and I do not say it for raising money, if I had a decent Steem Power it would help all those users that publish and their posts become invisible Without further ado, I say goodbye and I hope and support me.

and I will pay everything I have collected to a bot so that my post is heard by more people, personally I do not like to use the bots but in this case I will do it for the reason mentioned.

I understand that looking at the trending page can be frustrating. And yes, sometimes good stuff gets overseen. But in my opinion and experience, a lot of the good stuff gets seen and voted.

But I will give you a chance to prove me wrong - Answer to this comment and link me 5-10 WELL posts that have been made within the last 5 days and have <1$ payout!

I will look at each single one an check them out + upvote if I like! If I don't upvote, I will at least write a sentence for each post about why I didn't ;)

Greets, Martin

Upvoting this for visibility!

Good morning friend, if the truth that is frustrating view the page of tendencies. He appreciated your comment very much and also he considered the option to be wrong, the questionnaires and the reason you have and the other experienced people who commented. But I believe in the absolute that if you must change the distribution system, questionnaires and with the time of my account, no, but until then I will continue with my point of view.

As for the publications, do they have to be mine? or from anyone?

They are not allowed to be yours ;)

that is why they post 10 posts with good content and only 1 get more than 0.03 $

I want to see all that good content which just got 3 cents...

I've worked my ass of on updating my app and actually make it available as a website too. I made a post about it.
https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@azarus/updates-on-http-steemearnings-com-and-android-app
And it only got $0.07 reward, while the big great sweetsssj got $800 for a posting about eating cake.
Even tho people really liked and upvoted the initial release of the app which was such a mess. I don't understand people.

I will not stick my links because I am self-critical and I think it is not as good as the name of being, but I invite you to go through the tag #cervantes. It is only for Spanish speaking people and there is wonderful content that is being sent by the vast majority.

I don‘t speak spanish ;)

I do not understand English perfectly and I translate it is really simple.

It takes time to get followers.

Wealth distribution is certainly a problem on the other if your content is good you tend to end up being recognized.

I am honored that there is a good relationship, and maybe you are right. But undoubtedly there is a big problem, perhaps not in the distribution of wealth, but in the misuse that people with more power do. There is a lot of bad content with a lot of value just because someone with power did it. Thank you for your support that this platform needs more people like you.

It's good that it takes time - quality takes time. And from my experience I go with @knircky - Good quality + a little stamina in posting ALWAYS gets rewarded!

hi @alejandrofz,

first of all I´d like to thank you for bringing up this topic. I believe not many have yet tackled this specifically and that openly.

For my point of view I would like to remind you that the platform is still beta and a lot of work is still being put in the platform to adjust it. I think the people in charge are already aware of the issues being faced and I do believe that they are willing and maybe working already on a solution onto this matter.

Furthermore I may reminding you that this is one of the platforms where you as an individual can actually earn something with every post you create... which other side is offering that to you? I do not want to discurage you but I think you might want to review your effort you maybe willing to put into your daily routine here on steemit.

There are a lot of good posts written that are overseen or undervalued day by day however it is down to the user changing that, hence make people aware of you and your posts. If they don´t know you they won´t be rewarding you!
Be creative - not only in writing your posts but also when commenting on other users posts. For me in person a good comment is sometimes more valueable then a post as it may incluse valuable criticism which is making you move forward and tackle cirtain issues.

I doubt that all users here will ever make the same money - just because its an "open market" and the nature of such that the best and smartest will always be ahead of the masses. Besides this will still leave you a lot of room to make yourself a decent income... you shouldn´t be wining why making so little. Be a little more down to earth and thankful and rethink why you making little bucks and what you may do to actually grow and generate more. Those should be the main questions you shouldda focus on

Don´t take it personally but see it as positive creaticism and move ahead.

warm regards
Martin

Greetings Martin, I decided to take this topic, because in the short time I had here, No one had touched it except @berniesanders, who have done very badly but he did. And maybe I have something wrong with my publications, maybe and I do not express myself in the right way, but I really do not get to receive something in return. I made this publication to try to make the "whales" aware. It is true most of the fish including me, we have something bad in our content., but there is a large part that makes quality content and continues to be ignored by those "whales" who reserve their votes for themselves. Nor do I want to generalize saying "whales", since there are few who help this social network and see it as something more than a business.

I am also aware that this is a Beta and the official version should cover these big mistakes, just wait. In the same way, my friend will take your wise advice, and I do not take it personally. I am grateful for your comment since it is a healthy debate. We all see things from a different angle, maybe what you see is not the same as me, but that does not mean that any of us is wrong.

My greetings
Alexander

Hi Alexander,
I do see where you are coming from in terms of Berniesanders and the whales. - however I do believe that each of us minnows can reach something here by putting in greater effort then the others... this way quality will always outlast quantity and therefore will be recognized and valued by a greater audience.
In this regards I would like to put you focus especially on @ocd which are doing a great job finding articles of minnows which are totally undervalued. There aim is to help minnows grow and stick out so that people get aware of those users. I believe the posts you may find there are most of the time of outstanding quality and worth reading through.

It would be great if there would be more projects like that helping the community - especially minnows - grow and putting steemit platform on higher levels then before.

I do agree with you that little has been done so far makign whales - and the entire community - aware of this issue. If it may be brought up more oftern they would at least see that the community is not satisfied and aware of their behaviour - that offcousre does not mean that would immediately change their habbits however could results at least in more upvotes for minnows from them.

Summing it up I would still recommend that each one of us should be trying to provide their best content possible, hence something valueable to the commnity. Then it will only be a matter of time people getting aware of you... sometimes just a little thing such a RESTEEM of a certain person is what one needs to make the breakthrough. And it is for that very reason I attempt to resteem as many good posts as possible.

warm regards
Martin

Truly, thank you very much, it has been very pleasant to exchange these words with you. Hopefully and everyone had their wisdom and understanding, I hope not to lose contact always being aware of their work is. Have a great day.

Stay in touch buddy & have a great day

you make some good points. steemit not a make money quick thing. As you know, lots of people are doing well doing crypto posts with TA. My advice is to keep doing your posts to build your following. The more you do it, the better you will get at it. Else, bring followers you have on other platforms. i am not upvoting this post but I upvoted your thoughtful Monero post from yesterday.

Thank you very much, You also have very good arguments. But I insist and I persist that there is a big problem I really think that I should have a large community of content moderators. Categorize the content into "very good, good, medium and bad" and from there give you a percentage of the vote you receive. A living example is Utopian-io personally I think that steemit should implement it. And to be frank, I do not care about money. I would have liked you to support me in this publication because I want to be visualized by at least 1000 people. If the problem is the value of your vote, I promise to return it after 7 days.

thanks for the offer. i upvoted another one of your post. i am happy to upvote your TA work and need nothing in return. i want to help as you get started.
Bu the bottom line is, as per @lauch3d, you pay for visibility. several options are to be considered - investing in steem and powering up, be consistent with posts, spend a lot of time to follow and comment others so they do the same. A combo thereof. It's early days this work will pay off long term.

resteem and 100% upvote

but its wrong, they dont make 1000$, if they put in a big amount in bots to be upvoted (the even make net loss). You pay for visability. Otherwise there is no initial visability at all. The whole Cryptospace is anarcho capitalistik, nobody ever said its for making the people equal (thats wish thinking since 2015!) The cryptoanarchistic Szene behind bitcoin consists out of libertarians and anarchocapitalists and some unpolitical nerds.

The Algorithm decides what people do. Youtube in the early days was all about art (beeing funy, beeing free making nonesence) Now that you can earn money with it there are Rules made by the ones with most money (Clustering is a universal law not only in distribution of wealth) You have to, hack the system and not complaining. But thats just my opinion made on the facts I saw. You have to formulate your wish for fairnes in an algorithm to force people to behave fair (but incentives are nessesary)

but I like how bigger channels reakt to your post maybe they have fear :D?...
P.S. another thing ...If TA can be "good" (what ever this means) why nobody here has a track record, most people dont even have money for steem power which is proof that there is no proof at all (beeing a wale alone is also no proof...the "TA Magicans" are mostly the ones with big self votes ;), ppl can do TA but they are not critical about it and this is the sad part, ignoring lack of evidence and talking about good content. I like TA but not without beeing self critical)

Thank you very much for your comment @lauch3d your comment is full of words to analyze. In fact I have that idea too and I think it's not just the Cryptospace capitalist anarcho. The state of mind for me with TA, and when it says that most people do TA are not critical and it is a reality I as an economist know what to do TA of any graph that does a lot and that there are many " analysts "They make +10 TA per day. Which makes me doubt Since my publication came at the end of its "power spike" and I do not achieve my goal of reaching for less than 1,000 people but I am happy at least 2 or 3 at least. Thank you very much for your most recent comment on how much you have an excellent day.

I want to call you Captian Ahab for this post as you rant and rave about the white whale, that left you with a peg. I believe that you get what you seek. If you seek money then money is all that you will have. You will hold your tounge for fear of saying a truth that othere may find unapeeling. Yet if you view cyptocurrentcy as a hobbie and an extention of that hobbie is steemit. The bots and white whales will bother you less.

A bounty of 0.001 SBD has been set on this post by @alejandrofz!

Thanks for your help.

@alejandrofz, Upvote for supporting you.

Thanks friend, I really appreciate it.

Excellent your contribution, hopefully and everyone had your way of thinking. You have my upvote.

Thanks for your help.

I’m with you, the bots pumping out all the autovotes have got to go. Keep posting and stay involved I think things will change…hopefully. As for me, I’m no writer, photographer, blah blah blah I just share my work and life experiences. It’s peoples free will to upvote and follow.

You have all the right friend, Steemit as a social network should take all posts equally regardless if published by an engineer or a worker. But what should change is the reward system or failing to moderate the abuse of whales that play with the system.

The whales just circle each other. It’s a mentality of greed, where there is $$ involved there will be greed unfortunately.

You are absolutely right, I think that unfortunately I did not receive the support I should receive for this post to be heard by a large number of people. I think that without investing a lot of $$ you can not be heard. As you say on this page, greed reigns.
