Moonlit magic: Experiencing the partial lunar eclipse over Wales tonight

I can’t wait to stay up tonight to witness the partial lunar eclipse over Wales! It’s not every day you get the chance to see something so special, and since I don’t have to wake up early, why not stay up just because I can?

A partial lunar eclipse happens when the Earth moves between the sun and the moon, but not in perfect alignment. This means only part of the moon will fall under the Earth’s shadow, creating a beautiful, contrasting effect in the night sky. It won’t be a full eclipse, but that’s what makes this so interesting—part of the moon will darken while the rest remains illuminated.

The best part is that the eclipse will be visible from the UK between 1:41 am and 5:47 am, with the peak at 3:44 am. So, I’m planning to grab a cozy spot outside between 3:12 am and 4:15 am to really take it all in. I’ve even scoped out a spot away from city lights for a perfect view.

I’ll bring along some binoculars to get a better look at the details as the shadow moves across the moon, and of course, my camera is ready for some lunar photos. With a warm blanket and a flask of coffee, it’ll be the perfect night of stargazing! Whether you’re a seasoned sky-watcher or just up for something different, tonight’s lunar eclipse is definitely worth staying up for.
