I FIND NO BASIS FOR A CHARGE AGAINST THIS MAN... BUT PILATE DECIDED TO GRANT THE PEOPLES DEMAND

in #steemchurch6 years ago (edited)

Hello once again noble steemains of steemchurch, the word of God has been the food and my protection so let us join hands and spread the gospel.

Sometimes I asked myself can I be blameless, where people will not get any accusations about my life...? As a Christian though it is difficult to live a blameless life but through the strength in the blood we may endour whatever that comes our way.

When we read the book of Luke 23:1-12, according to the Bible, the Jewish leaders accused Jesus before Pilate. What was their accusation...? What was their accusation...?
But were their accusation true...? They claimed that Jesus:

  1. "Was subverting their nation" - trying to overthrow the government. Though large crowds followed Jesus, He was not misleading them in turning them against their leaders or against the Roman government.

  2. "Opposes payment of taxes to Caesar" - This also is not true. Let us read the scriptures for better understanding

Luke 20:22-25
"Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Cæsar, or not? But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Show me a denarius. Whose image and superscription hath it? And they said, Caesar’sShow me a denarius. Whose image and superscription hath it? And they said, Caesar’s."

  1. "Claims to be Christ, a King" - Though Jesus claimed to be the Messiah, the Anointed king, He was not a political or military king that came to challenge the power of Rome. His kingdom is not of the world.

John 18:36-37
"Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end have I been born, and to this end am I come into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice."

It is unfortunate that the leaders of Israel made false accusations against Jesus just to have Him killed.

When we also read verse 13 down we can see that Pilate confessed three times that he found no wrong in Jesus that deserves death. So also King Herod. He did not f8nd fault with Jesus. But why would Pilate punish Jesus and give Him over to be crucified....? Have you ever been accused of committing an offence which you never did....?

When people insisted that Jesus be crucified and Barnabas be released, they prevailed and Pilate granted their demand. Why do you think Pilate did that..? Some people suffer today because the leaders do not want them. They are seen as threat to their positions or that they know their evil deeds as in the case of Joseph (Gensis 37:2)

Do not crucify Christ again by your pattern of life

Jesus taking the place of barnabas was prophetic because since barnabas was a grave sinner, Jesus was substituted to take the sin and give us salvation just like barnabas was freed. He had salvation at that time because he was going to be crucified and Jesus took his place just like you and I. We are saved indeed. Praise God

It is normal to have accusers and opposers in our lives for the Bible has already said about such folks. If the master was accused and opposed then we will not be exempted for a servant is not greater than his master. However, we should count it all joy when go through hard times, when we are accused, insulted for the sake of Christ. Great post, continue sharing the good word of the Lord with Steemchurch @bigssam
