Good day my follow steemians today i will love to write on the topic reproduction in plant. The flower, leaf, stem and root are parts of a plant. Plants develop from seeds which need water, air and light to germinate. The flower is the reproductive organ in plants; plants reproduce their young ones by means of the flower. Some flowers have large and brightly coloured petals while others have small and not too bright petals.
The flower of some plants like hibiscus, okra and maize have both the male and the female parts. The male parts is called the state which is made up of the anther and the filament and the female part is called the pistol made up of stigma, ovary and style.

POLLINATION
Pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma of a flower. A flower is pollinated when a pollen grain lands on its stigma. The pollen grain is either carried by wind or by insects. Insects-pollinated flower usually have brilliantly coloured petals and nectar that attract insects to them. They carry the pollen grains to another flower and feathery stigma. The wind blows their pollen grains along until they eventually land on another flower.

TYPES OF POLLINATION
There are two types of pollination

  • Self pollination.
  • Cross pollination.

  • SELF POLLINATION: In self pollination; self pollen grains are carried from the anther to the stigma of the same plant.
  • CROSS POLLINATION: In cross pollination, the pollen grains are carried from the anther of one flowering plants to the stigma of another plant.
Wind, insects (butterfly, moth, wasp and bee), bats, birds and mammals are the agents which carry pollen grains from the male (stamen) part of the flower to the female (pistil) part of the flower.

In conclusion i hope i have been able to write about reproduction in plant.
