The Steem News @ 18 February 2020 - a little more news from @andrarchy on the Tron / Steemit Inc partnership

in #steem5 years ago (edited)

There has been a little more information today about the Tron / Steemit Inc partnership from another interview with Head of Communications @andrarchy.

Also in this edition there is news and updates about Steem-Engine becoming registered as a Money Transmitter, Splinterlands heading to NFT.NYC, OpenSeed, and IBT Survival Island.

And there are more additions to the Diary Dates section as well as regular updates on the Steem Foundation and the Steem Proposal System, and another Featured Contest.

1. The Tron / Steem Partnership

The Steemit Inc team are still in discussions with @justinsunsteemit and Tron so no formal announcements from Steemit Inc yet, however Head of Communications Andrew Levine @andrarchy was on The Steeming Pile show with @johnspalding, @pennsif and @sgt-dan today.

During the discussions on the show Andrew added a few further points of information...

  • TRON has around 500 employees
  • The Steemit Inc team are working together with Justin Sun and his team to develop a roadmap for the partnership between the two companies. Justin has said the process will be a collaborative effort and no hard decisions have yet been made.
  • What some people imagine Justin Sun is saying isn't really possible - because of the technical differences between the two chains it would not be possible to absorb Steem into the Tron blockchain.
  • By connecting Steem and Tron through cross-chain atomic swaps we would get the best of both worlds...

Andrew also confirmed that the free account creations on Steem are now happening in often as little as 10 minutes, but commonly around 2 hours.

In the second half of the show @andrarchy talked about the OpenSeed project he is involved in and the forthcoming release of the OpenLink cross platform messaging system.

In the legal code of the United States, a money transmitter or money transfer service is a business entity that provides money transfer services or payment instruments. Money Transmitters in the US are part of a larger group of entities called money service businesses or MSBs.

This means that...

Steem-Engine can accept USD for payment for crypto and NFTs. This allows us a number of options. We can facilitate you buying off the market with USD. We can have our own dollar backed stable coin that trades on steem-engine similar in purpose to tether. We can offer trading pairs that are between the stable currency that's redeemable in dollars and any listed token or pegged token that lives on the exchange. We can legally launch convertible virtual currencies....

Good post Pennsif!

Great information. Thanks for sharing. But on this:

TRON has around 500 employees

Are we seeing the 500 employees added to Steemit employees being paid with steem soon?

Posted via Steemleo

Tron has 500 employees, told Andrarcyh, but we still don't know how many employees steemit have.

Or is it just me clueless?

It is 9 at the moment I believe - they have recently added an extra software engineer (Iain Maitland), and before that Jack Burk (Director, Advertising Sales)....

Thanks man. I don't have enough time to check.
