Transform Your Inner Critic Into An Inner Coach: Thought For The Day #46 💭✍

in #steem6 years ago

'A man is literally what he thinks' (James Allen)

Negative thoughts affect your body negatively weakening you, making you sweat and making you uptight. Positive thoughts affect your body in a positive way, making you more relaxed, centered and alert. Positive thoughts cause the secretion of endorphins in the brain and reduce pain and increase pleasure.

First, you have to become aware of these negative thoughts; next you have to shake the off and stomp them by challenging them. Finally, you have to replace them with more positive and affirming thoughts. Just because you think a thought, or hear it, doesn't mean it's true.

Try not to mind read. This is when you believe you know what another person is thinking even though he or she hasn't told you.

Learn to look for the positive in everything. Work on gratitude and try and see some appreciation in things and really feel it, how small it may be.

Talk to yourself like a winner. 'You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you' (James Allen)

Transforming Your Inner Critic Into Your Inner Coach

Teach it to tell you total truth. A complete message would look like this:

Anger: I am angry that you ran across the road without looking for cars coming.

Fear: I am afraid that you'll get badly hurt if you don't check the road.

Requests: I want you to stop and look both ways before crossing the road.

Love: I love you so much. You are so precious to me. I want to stay safe so you can enjoy life to it's fullest.

Make a list of all the things you say when you judge yourself, including things that you should do or ought to do. Repeat the above 4 step process to thus talk to yourself in a more loving way. When you are judging yourself, simply reply, "Thank you for caring".

Jack Canfield talks about by turning his inner critic into his inner coach, He was able to stop feeling life a failure and start engaging in activities that made his dream a reality. As simple as this technique is, it is so powerful.

Remembering again that the deepest underlying motivation of your inner critic is to help you be better at what you do, tell your inner critic to stop criticizing and berating you or you will stop listening to it. Tell that inner voice you are not willing to listen to any more character assassinations, name-calling or browbeating - only specific steps you can take to do it better the next time.

"The Infinite Mind of THE ALL is the womb of Universes."--The Kybalion.

In Hermeticism, the Principle of Mentalism states that everything begins in mind. Think about any invention ever created, any action you took. These always begin as thoughts which are then manifested into physical reality through your will and actions. So when you are thinking negatively and criticizing yourself, that is exactly what you are going to manifest because YOU are bringing those negative thoughts into existence.

Those are good exercises that you mentioned to work through and build positive thought patterns. It takes a lot of time to retrain our brains to be constructive instead of criticizing but it can be done and you will be much better for doing the work to get yourself there.

Great article!

Cool quotation! Thanks for that! Yes this is true, it's crazy to think how people actually invented these products when they just simply weren't around. It's really fascinating, I wonder what my invention perhaps may be! Yes, I am working on producing more positive thoughts and not attaching to negative thoughts.

I know this is not the point you were trying to make. After reading the first paragraph of this post I felt the need to watch some documentaries from my favorite charity just to get some positivity in my mind. Sometimes we all just need something uplifting . Your posts can help with that as well ;) I also liked the"Transforming Your Inner Critic Into Your Inner Coach" paragraph. Braking down the way your self talk can sound was really helpful in understanding the point you were trying to get across.

There is no right or wrong way of interpreting these ideas. Of course, self care is so important! I'm glad that these ideas are helping you and settling in!

It takes a practice of your muscles memory specially learn to remember always what thoughts you want to install. The Key of that is repetition to build your memory.

Yes, I am working on repeating the same phrases over and over trying to almost brainwash myself with positive thoughts and positive thinking and repetition is the key to that!

@lupper There is always a reason to be grateful to life for how bad things go, to ask for permission to understand and accept the situation, to live with patience and hope to transform it, to change it will be the hardest but surely in the end we will get the prize .

Fantastic thoughts, gratitude is such a test for us but witnessing people who have less almost makes it essential!

What if somebody slap me in the face, what would I say or do in a positive way?

That's for you to find out! That's also the challenge when really difficult things come our way how we are meant to see the positive, that's the test of life!
