Week 8 NFL Recap

Another crazy week in the NFL as we saw the Dolphins lose by 40, Trevor Siemian wilt under the Monday Night lights, and the Cleveland Browns lose...again. Some of the preseason favorites that struggled early on seem to have caught their footing; the Pats beat the Chargers for their 4th win in a row to climb to 6-2, the Cowboys won a big divisional game against the Redskins to stay within striking distance of the first-place Eagles, and the Falcons got back on track with a win over the not-so-terrible New York Jets.

As we approach the trade deadline, the big NFL story this week is the number of blockbuster trades. The Patriots shocked everyone by sending Pretty Boy Jimmy Garoppolo to the 49ers for a 2018 2nd-round pick - less of a haul than a lot of people thought they’d get. 40-year old Tom Brady is the only quarterback on the Patriots roster or practice squad.

Down in Jacksonville, the Jaguars are apparently all-in for 2017, trading for Buffalo’s Marcell Dareus. The Bills then turned around and, after trading one of their best defensive players, made a deal with the Carolina Panthers for Kelvin Benjamin. All while the best team in football, the Philadelphia Eagles, swiped Jay Ajayi from Miami in exchange for a 4th-round pick. A lot of moves by Super Bowl contenders - one of which just may be the difference down the stretch.
