STORM: ARE YOU ACTUALLY FACING IT?

Reading passage:- Job 1:20-21.

20.Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

21.And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.

The story of Job is such an incredible one, that most people would imagine if it really happened. Job was a wealthy man living in a land called Uz with his large family and extensive flocks. He was "blameless" and "upright", always careful to avoid doing evil.

One day, Job received four messages , each bearing separate news that livestock, servants, and ten children had all died due to invaders or natural catastrophes.

It is interesting to note that God was aware of the trials and would have put an end to them but he didn't. Our Bible reading tells us how Job reacted to the problems: he rent his mantle, shaved his head and fell down upon the ground and worshipped God in his prayers.

Most Christians praise God when going through difficult times but they often lose hope in God's ability and give up when it seems like their prayers are not answered. What are the problems you are going through? Do they seem life taking? Does it feel like all hope is gone? Why not emulate our great mentor Job who in all things worshipped God and never asked God why he had to go through them.

May God give us the grace to praise him through the storms of life.
Amen.
