Mini Motivation #40 - The Fear of The Start

in #psychology7 years ago

Starting is always interesting to watch. At one hand, it's exciting, it holds promise, it symbolizes change. It keeps our heart beat pumping fast.

On the other hand, it's crippling, it signifies a 50-50 chance of failing, it symbolizes uncertainty. It keeps our heart beat pumping fast.

Yup, the heart beats the same whether you're excited or in fear. But that's not what we're gonna talk about today.

Yes, before starting something, we will have our set of justifications, over-analysing of the situations, maybe doubts over the mission! Failure is painful, we all know that. It's a blow to our self-esteem, hurts our ego, makes us more careful, or sadly, skeptical, in the future.

Sometimes, too careful, till the point that we fail to act, which frankly, is gonna be a lot more painful. Research has shown again and again that we tend to regret more of things we don't do, other than the things we did. I'm pretty sure you can relate to that. The greatest stories comes not from those who wait, but from those who act.

So if you really feel like starting something, and you've got a decent plan mapped out, just go for it. Yes, know that you're gonna fail, and that's OK. Because when you succeed, you gain something way more - the confidence to start.

Mini Motivation is my own daily strategy to inspire myself. Mostly 3 minute reads.

From Motivation, we gain Inspiration. From Inspiration, we achieve Momentum. And the rest, they say, is history.

Hope it helps nudge you a bit too in the right direction.

Oh it did? Let me know in the comments, and of course an upvote would be a nice motivation for me. :)

Stay awesome!

Wait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays?

Well, unlike other blogging and social media platform, Steemit is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD7, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you:

  • Create content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos)
  • Upvote (like) other people contents
  • Comment on other people's posts
  • Have discussions, share opinions etc!

Yup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along!

The only difference? For once you can earn a nice income on the side!

Sign up for a free Steemit account, and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome

Along with a follow-up of massive action! Have a nice weekend, bro! Steem on!

Much love my sir..

Start is always the most difficult job to do and especially for those who think too much. I am a very thinking person and it is always difficult for me to take a start since I make too much calculations before starting.

Nice pic friend

Starting is always the hardest thing to do when I have the negative thinking of how it would end. I agree with your writing @maverickfoo that we tend to regret more in things that we did not do rather than the things that we already did.

This is really true.

The first step is always the hardest. There are too many doubts to consider either self-doubt or external risks. Most of the time due to too many doubts that scare the shit out of us and hence not going to step out from the comfort zone. Our mind will tell us to stay at the current stage!

This gave me the extra push of motivation I needed this Friday afternoon! Thank you! :-)
