Trump and Putin at the G20 summit decided the fate of Ukraine

in #politics7 years ago (edited)

The supposed meeting in Hamburg of the presidents of Russia and the USA was the main intrigue of the G20 summit in early July. The leaders of world politics met for the first time since joining Trump as president of the United States. And the issues requiring clarity and definition of positions during this time has not become less. "Hot spots" - Syria and Ukraine, the redistribution of spheres of influence and, what is important for Trump - the preservation of the "face" in the context of constant accusations of his own opposition to rapprochement with Russia. These and many questions demanded a meeting in the "neutral territory".

From Hamburg with Love

The G20 summit in Hamburg was a decoration for the meeting of two leaders of world politics - US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Very few people are interested in the agenda of the summit itself, all expectations, all attention of politicians, experts and journalists was focused on two figures - Trump and Putin.

Before the summit, it was not clear whether the meeting of the two presidents would take place, how long it would last and what results would follow. The expectations of the observers were justified under the full program: the presidents met on the sidelines, and after Donald's double handshake, Vladimir's hands and forearms left the presidents for face-to-face talks.

The meeting lasted two hours. After the meeting, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told journalists who were curious that Trump's wife Melanya had looked to the high contracting parties after an hour of their conversation, but the US leader was not determined to end the negotiations, and the first lady of America waited for her husband another hour.

At the end of the conversation, the parties did not come to the press with a general communique. Vladimir Putin said after the meeting with Trump that the talks discussed the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine, as well as the fight against terrorism and issues of cybersecurity. Later, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov sparingly reported that the United States and Russia had agreed to create a "communication channel for Ukraine."

And - no cancellation of the "Minsk agreements" or "new formats" of the settlement of the situation in the form of US accession to the negotiation process. Kyiv will bring all the nuances of the "special commissioner" Kurt Volker after his visit to Moscow.
