Balkan desserts

Hey there guys!
Today I'm bringing you something not so healthy lol.

You see,our countries (specially Bosnia) is deeply influenced with Turkish cuisine.
Like the dessert on the left side of the picture. It's called baklava and it origins from Turkey. It's layers and layers of thin dough with pistachios and sugar in between and baked on high temperature untill done.In the mean time, you make a syrup from sugar and water, same ratio and add a bit of lemon to kill that sweetness. Then we cool down the syrup mixture, and after baklava is baked,we fully cover it with cold syrup, that way it absorbs all the juices and become really juicy and soft.
This Turkey delight is mostly made with pistachios, but here in balkans we make it with regular walnuts.
It's extremely delicious and really sweet, you can't eat a lot of these!

On the right you have similar dish. You made a dough similar to choux dough ,pipe it down into hot oil and fry it.Here also we make cooled down sugar syrup, and throw them into the syrup right out of the oil so they soak up everything.

On the bottom right you have some of my favorite desserts.I'm not quite sure where it's origins are,but it's very popular dessert here.
You mix eggs and sugar untill they're fluffed, then add melted chocolate and we whisk it few minutes on steam. After that we take thin waffle layers and put thick layer of that fill on top of it,then we put another waffle layer and so on untill it's all used up.This "thin waffle" is not really your typical waffle that you would make and eat with syrup or so,but more like a waffle from ice cream cone.

Sometime later I will write down detailed recipe for each of these dishes, but for now I just want to show you how balkan cuisine looks like!
