Steemit Open Mic: Week 68- 'Zombie' - The Cranberries (cover)...
I haven't posted any music for a couple of weeks but, when I received the news this morning about The Cranberries' singer Dolores O'Riordan's sudden passing, I knew right away that I wanted to work on something to tribute her...
I was never a huge Cranberries fan, but their music was unique, their lyrics were relevant, & Dolores's vocal stylings were nothing short of amazing...soulful, ethereal...like nothing any of us coming of age in the 90's had really ever heard before...
...in my earlier 20's I used to sing 'Zombie' at a karaoke bar in Kansas City pretty regularly...I always tried to 'metal' it up a little bit on the chorus... \m/
...that was a long time ago though...I'm in my early 40's now...probably another reason her passing struck me so hard...she's only a few years older than me ...
...at one point today I was going about my business around the house when the song 'Linger' got stuck in my head...
...what a beautiful song & a mesmerizing vocal...suddenly I got all watery-eyed & just about balled like a baby...
...I guess I was more of a fan than I realized...
...I hadn't tried this song in a number of years...I hope you like it...

One of my childhood favorites and growing to be my kids as well! I was so sad to hear of her passing.
Really nice tribute! Have to say when I first started listening (I'm not sure why) I was kind of expecting it to be a bit faster so it was good being able to hear it nice and slow and really soak all the lyrics in
...thanks, @ashleyhogan!!... ...I actually sped it up a little from the tempo I had originally set...lol...I like that the slower tempo brings out the intensity of the message & gives it a bit more of a somber quality...
