Robocraft Update Release

in #news8 years ago

Hey there,
Here’s a quick update on the release of Roboclans Alpha. Earlier this month we released a code which not-so-subtly hinted (cough, CLANS25TH, cough) that clans functionality would be live in Robocraft today, unfortunately we’re going to miss that target launch date.

The scope of clans and social has grown since our original announcement and has proven more challenging to implement than originally anticipated; as a result we need a bit more time to get it all in-game and working as intended.

The new social and clans functionality is split into two different components, Mk1 and Mk2, and you can read all about exactly what we’ve planned in the two articles released earlier in the week:

Clans Deep Dive
Social Deep Dive

We’re also really excited to confirm that tomorrow (August 26th), we’ll be using our new and shiny Public Test Server (PTS) for Robocraft for the first time to help bug test the new social and clans functionality with a limited number of players on a first come, first served basis. The test is due to start on our new PTS at 3pm (UTC+1) and if you’d like to take part, please follow the instructions on the official forum linked here: http://robocraftgame.com/forums/topic/socialclans-public-test-server/

Public testing is something we’ve always want to do prior to updates hitting live servers, and this is the first time we’ve been in a position to do it. Needless to say we can’t wait to see how it all goes down!

Obviously it’s always sad to miss a release date, but the alternative is us releasing a buggy version of clans and all the new chat features, and that is absolutely something we don’t want to do. This clans and social functionality could be a game changer for Robocraft and when we launch it we want to do it right.

As soon as we have a definitive release for Roboclans Alpha we’ll communicate it to all you guys. Don’t worry, the wait won’t be too long; the date will depend on how the Public Test goes down tomorrow. Expect an update soon!

Thanks all!
