Mountain Biking @ Whistler, BC

Hey, guys. Any Steemit users interested in mountain biking? In the last year, I have gotten really into it. I live in Western Washington, close to the Canadian boarder; it's realistic to say I am one of the luckiest mountain bikers in the world. Close to Bellingham, America's mecca for mountain bikes. Likewise, I'm only 1.5 hours from Whistler....which is, basically, heaven.

I got interested in mountain biking after a pretty intense injury: I got hit by a car (as a pedestrian). I shattered my clavicle, punctured my right lung and sustained a mild traumatic brain injury. Being in the United States Navy, I was rushed to Balboa Naval Medical Center and spent 54 days at Wounded Warrior. After some brief physical therapy and a lot of taking it easy, I knew I needed to take my recovery into my own hands. If I just sat around and let the medical staff remain in charge of MY well-being, I would get no where; other than addicted to pain meds.

Long story short, I got stationed up here in Washington unaware of what mountain biking even was. An old buddy also got stationed up here, and he turned me onto riding. Fast forward a year and here I am (in these pictures) during my first trip to Whistler, last week. What an incredible time, man. We saw a ton of bears and ended up hitting the gnarliest trails I have ever seen in my life! Interestingly enough, I think riding really helped my body recover from those injuries....

Here are some more pictures for your viewing pleasure! If you have any questions, please just let me know. Also, if you live in Washington and ride/or would like to, hit me up and let's go shred! I'll be at Galbraith all day tomorrow and Chuckanut all day Monday! Hopefully at least one person on here even knows what mountain biking is!
