At 25 years old Marc Marquez wins his 7th World Championship

I just watched the MotoGP race of Japan and watched Marc Marquez, the 25 year old Spanish phenom take a solid victory at Motegi. On the third to last lap Andrea Ianone lost the front wheel and crashed out, though he did finish the race, he made zero points which means that there is no mathematical possibility for any racer on the grid to overtake Marquez this year.

It was a shame to see the race go down like that, I think everyone wanted to see Dovi and Marc duke it out on the last lap, but it just wasn't to be. All in all it was a good race, and as is usual of MotoGP races it was tense and thrilling throughout.

I'm not the biggest fan of Marquez, I'm more of a Rossi man myself, but at this point, you really struggle to deny that Marc, if he isn't already, WILL be the greatest motorcycle racer of all time. At just 25 years old he has 7, yes SEVEN world championships under his belt. Valentino Rossi, widely regarded as the GOAT (greatest of all time) has 9 championships at the very old (in motogp years) age of 39.

Barring some massive injury for Marc, I don't know anyone who would take the bet that he won't over take Rossi's record in the coming years. It's a bit of a shame for Rossi fans, but as the great F1 champion Niki Lauda said: "Records are meant to be broken".

Well, good for Marc, he's an insanely talented rider and there is no doubt at all that he deserves every single one of his championships. But hopefully Ducati will get their stuff together next year and give us a real fight to then end ;)
