Pediatric minecraft you tube video addiction

in #minecraft8 years ago

My niece Penelope Lynn is 100% addicted to watching you tube videos of Minecraft. She is only 7 years old and it's causing a huge melt down on a daily basis. She got this game last Easter as a gift. She physically plays the game about an hour a day as a reward when she got home from school. In these hot summer months my sister has let her watch minecraft videos on you tube all day long. She can't be away from the videos for more than a few minutes. She watches in her bedroom on a smart tv. She has a tablet that she watches them on in the bathroom and in the car. If the tablet dies she will cry and pitch a fit until someone gives her their phone if they're not home. She eats all her meals in her room and has her tablet playing minecraft videos in the back ground when she showers.

My sister has Sarcoidosis. This disease causes rheumatoid arthritis as one of the symptoms. She has become quite hermity herself. She's only 29 but she has lost hope and doesn't even have a job. She relies on my parents for everything and doesn't help with the house work either.

Penny's favorite videos are by Little Kelly & Little Carley. She says they are from California. They definitely have "English" accents. They both have dogs. One is Buttons and Brian. There friends are Sharky, Scuba Steve, baby duck, Donut, baby leigha, tiny turtle, little lizard & little Donny.

If Penny is visiting at our house she will actually cry if she can't watch her tablet while she eats. It has to be playing in the back ground when I have her bake with me or play games. She will cry if we watch tv but not those videos. She has asked me to watch them several times while I am writing this piece.

I talked to other parents who are having the same problems. Either with games or the videos. It is a little scary when you try to unplug kids these days! My sister intends on sending a tablet in her bag. When she eats lunch she can watch it in the cafeteria. Oi! Thanx for listening and blessed be!
