Forgiving the right way

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Forgiveness sounds simple and easy, but it isn't the way it sounds. Forgiveness is much more than just saying "I forgive you". To forgive means to clear the slate. It means you have to assume the person did not commit that crime against you anymore. Forgiveness is not as easy as we think. It requires a lot of strength and willpower.

Sometimes, we truly want to forgive, but our hearts keep holding on to the past and will always remind us of the wrong that was done. But I want to tell you this, you have not forgiven if you are still looking for a way to prove a point. It is true that everything that happens to us in life is recorded in our subconscious mind and most times, we unconsciously react based on that. This is where the practice of auto-suggestion is highly recommended. You have to consciously reprogram your mind through auto-suggestions if you truly want to totally forgive. The old image in your subconscious mind has to be replaced by a new one through what you consciously suggest to it.

However, forgiveness is not foolishness. If you find yourself in an abusive relationship, or you come in contact with toxic people, do not hold grudges against them, but you must protect yourself by creating a distance.

Forgiveness is not a favour you do only to those who wrong you, you also benefit from it. When you forgive, you experience inner peace. And as someone who wants to use his/her mind as a powerful tool for creativity and innovations, grudges should have no space in that mind. The world does not need more people moving around with grudges in their hearts. Imagine if everyone holds to heart the wrong that was done to them, then this earth will be the most dangerous place for human existence.

Forgive to free the one who did you wrong.

Forgive to free your mind from harmful toxins.

Forgive to heal the world.

Never give up sista! I pity those who hold grudges. It's wasteful energy. Nice to see some positivity on Steem fam!

Holding grudge is a disaster to those who practice it. Thank you for your comment here @kevbot.

The Prophet of Islam says," the best amongst you is the one who forgives people". Thank you so much for posting on this very important topic.

the best amongst you is the one who forgives people"

That is very correct. Thank you for reading.

I chose the three ways of forgiveness.

greeting from Venezuela!

Oh! Thank you for reading.

You have said it all, forgiveness actually helps the person forgiving someone than the person asking for the forgiveness. You actually free your self of all the burden. Thanks for this post

Thank you for reading @adeuyi

You are definitely right. Even after claiming they have forgiven others, a lot of people would still hold grudges which is not so cool.

I also loved the aspect where you dwelled on forgiveness not equal to foolishness. It is a pity a lot of people are victims in that area.

Nice one dear, and I must comment, your beauty is so captivating!

I think we are all guilty at some point in this area. Forgiveness is not really as easy as we think. Most times, we truly want to forgive, but the memory of the hurt keeps standing in our way. A deliberate action to overcome this weakness is the only way out. E.g, intentionally do good to the one who you think does not deserve it from you.

Thank you for reading.

It takes a lot to forgive when someone hurts you greatly, but I believe with time, when the pain has reduced a little, you can look at the event without that much anger and bitterness. Only then can you really forgive.

Thank you for your comment here.

You are welcome.

You're an inspiration. Loving your post.

I use to Hold a lot of grudges sometimes people we call family members are just wolves who are related for you.

LOL! Let go! Thanks for reading.

Well what can I say, I will try, thank you @ogoowinner

True words thanks! @journeyfreedom

You are welcome

@ogoowinner,yes it's easy to say I FORGIVE YOU THAN DOING IT, but forgiving for a learned person is not a choice but an option because you do yourself more favour than the opposite victim his self.

truely it's easy to forgive but never so easy to forget but for the learned, anything is easy to he that wants it to be easy.

Thank you for reading this.

@ogowinner Thanks. I think sometimes where we learn about forgiveness matters. In the bible Jesus tells his disciples that we must forgive 77 times 7 times which is actually a way to show them the attitude of forgiveness not just the numbers.

Some pick from Hollywood, and you hear stuffs like "Forgive people but don't forget there names."

And so on!

Where we pick our philosophy and mantra from, to a great extent, shapes the quality of our forgiveness capacity.
