Guess : A serial killer or a depressed individual who is about to attempt a suicide?

Think : Let's try to come up with a story behind this image.

Write: And now, post it on Facebook.

This might be strange and quite unusual for many of us. However, for many people, this has become a daily ritual, to find a random image online, write a fake story to grab attention and now post it on the social network to collect likes, shares and comments. It works. Perfectly.

In this 21st century, when 40% of the world's population has an internet connection, when real interaction is no longer an ideal or accessible option for everyone, online content is slowly taking over and becoming necessary for everyday life. Since we receive such a large amount of information every day, and our brain only takes 10% out of all data we receive, whatever catches our attention encourages our actions, and in this case, the actions that "online story tellers" need are:

| likes

| share

| comment

With this goal in mind, many "story tellers'' take advantage of the gullible readers whom with good intentions and want to spread awareness to their Facebook friends and loved ones. Let's take a look at this recent incident on the 3rd of July, when a mum digitally created a piercing on her 6 months old baby , to fight for body alteration in children.

In return, many Facebook news has altered her words and intentions by posting her 6- month-old daughter with her digitally created piercing with their own made-up captions. Of course, the captions weren't positive otherwise she wouldn't receive death threats.

I don't often follow many activists and also don't always support all decisions made by them. Also, I have no comment on her decision on using her daughter to fight against body alteration in children. But what really bothers me is the use of false advertising or false promoting to grab attention without any ethical consideration.

There are thousands of news like this appear everyday on your newsfeed. Whether the incidents happen within your border, or in a different country, the internet has no boundary between nations and whatever is on social network isn't kept within your own home.

One fake news can destroy a real life. One negative comment can ruin a positive day. So please, think while you read, think again before you comment, and think real hard before you share.
