KillerPix Contest #20 - Grandma's Hat

in #killerpix7 years ago

grandma.JPG

This is my dear Mom a few summers ago. She is a precious being who is now entering a different and sometimes difficult phase of her life where she doesn't always know where she is or who we are.

She is at times very entertaining when she talks about when she lived in India, even though we know she didn't. At times she feels confused and afraid but doesn't want to say so. She is an independent and proud woman. I love her so very much and want her to feel safe and cared for. I adore this photo of my Mom in this summer hat with the light dappled on her face.

Your post reminds me of my late mother. The most valuable mother of my life

Yes, Mothers are so valuable. They stay in our hearts forever.

such beautiful portrait and this wonderful shadow spot created by the hat !
love your story. its sad - but that's a way of life..

Thanks, Victor. It is a sad part of life. We try to find humour when we can. She can be very funny and sometimes she swears like a truck driver. I never knew her to do that before. We laugh and cry at the same time.

Your mother looks like she has such a wonderful sense of humor Trula. It's an important bonding time ~ Even if there comes a time when it seems she no longer knows you ~ You will still be connected. Wonderful that you can be with her at this time in her life. 🦋

Thank you, @allyinspirit. Yes, I feel that strongly. My other Mother had early-onset Alzheimer's disease. I know where this is going. I also know that in our hearts we do stay connected and feel love well after the earthly part of us is gone. I appreciate your kind knowing.
