Violence Against Soccer Referees In National Sports Week

On this occasion, I will inform you of the news that is not good to hear and read, the news that can not be a good example, for the world of sports that put forward the principles of justice and sportsmanship.
Like the news I told you a few days ago - you can read it here National Sports Week Opens. about the implementation of the National Sports Week in the province where I live, namely Aceh province, which took place from September 09 to September 20, 2024.
Bad news came from the football branch that had entered the quarter-finals, which brought together the hosts of Aceh province vs. Central Sulawesi province. The match that took place yesterday, September 14, 2024, was fierce before finally everything went not as expected. This happened because some of the referee's decisions were considered in favor of the host, thus triggering the commotion that occurred. But there was also a lot of wasted time that was done deliberately by the players of Central Sulawesi province, and this also triggered a commotion in the match. Even though the Aceh provincial football team played quite well throughout the tournament.

From my personal view, I watched the match via Streaming broadcast because the distance from my home to the capital of Aceh province takes 6 hours by road. And requires that I see from the Streaming broadcast, that the referee's leadership does look in favor of one of the teams.
The decisions in favor of the host are visible, I who support the host also feel that the decision is wrong when prioritizing justice and sportsmanship. These wrong decisions can even change the final result and also change the course of the match which initially looks very exciting and full of high tension.
The second half was colored by various events that looked serious, until in the match the Central Sulawesi provincial football team had to play with 8 players, 3 of their players were red cards by the referee for various violations that occurred. Even though the Central Sulawesi provincial team is still 0-1 ahead of the host Aceh province. The highlight, in the 97th minute of extra time, right when the penalty prize was given, a defender of Central Sulawesi province made a fatal hitting action towards the referee's face, until the referee was unconscious. This is a serious violation of the rules and is not allowed.

The match was stopped for a moment and resumed, with a penalty kick for the host Aceh province, and failed to be executed properly. The penalty was again given for the second time to the Aceh provincial team, changing the final result to 1-1.
Long story short the 1-1 score lasted until normal time the match was over, and required continued with extra time. However, many mistakes from the previous referee's decision, made the Central Sulawesi provincial football team resign from the match. The rules of Aceh province are declared the winner of the decision out of the match conducted by the Central Sulawesi provincial football team.
Whatever happens I personally as a spectator, do not blame the decision of the Central Sulawesi provincial football team to withdraw from the match. Although I fully support the Aceh provincial football team, the referee's side is very visible in the match, and I call this embarrassing, even though the Aceh provincial football team also gives a very fierce resistance without having to be protected.
This news spread quickly throughout Indonesia and even abroad, regardless of the alignment of the referee to the home team, the beating that occurred is not allowed in football anywhere in the world, because the rules are written in Football Article 12 about violations and bad behavior of football, with sounds prohibited from committing acts of violence both against players and referees. It can even be threatened with a much heavier witness, and have an impact on the player's career.
In the end, the Aceh provincial football team in the National Sports Week in 2024, will advance to the next round. But this victory was less pleasant with various events and also the end of the match, becoming something very dear.
This is also the duty and responsibility of the football refereeing Federation in Indonesia so that the referee continues to lead the game fairly and professionally without taking sides with any team. So that in the future similar events do not happen again, and football remains an interesting sport and produces quality matches.
