Elephant proboscis beetle

Today, I will show you again, a very unique and rare beetle, the type you will see, only once a year, if it grows and develops. with the habit of always playing with branches of young leaves, this type, only looks always alone, without being accompanied by beetles of its kind.

Elephant proboscis beetle, if around where I live in Aceh, we often call it elephant proboscis beetle, but it runs very slowly, but this type, very quickly disappears, if we touch its body.

"disappear" I mean here is, this type, will release its grip, on a leaf branch, until this beetle, falls and immediately, holding on to the other branch, tree branch below.

The first elephant proboscis beetle I found

below, when I found this type, just right, above the leaf, while holding on to the leaf branch, which is light green, let's look at the picture below :

Explanation of body parts and colors

in this first picture, you can see, the face of the elephant's proboscis beetle, which I photographed, from the front, while walking on a tree branch, which has fine hair.

in the middle, this proboscis beetle, has two short mustaches, which have a slightly rounded tip.

in the picture below is the body pattern of the elephant's proboscis beetle, with a striped pattern on it, with cream and black. and has a unique pattern, on the head.

in the picture below, you can better recognize this type, if it is above the leaves, which I photograph, from a short distance, sideways.

those are the parts of the elephant's proboscis beetle. I photographed with a macrophotography lens.

The life of an elephant's proboscis beetle

that's the appearance, in Life, the elephant's trunk beetle, which is very rarely found, it takes time and a good place, then we can see this type.

in this type of life, this beetle, will consume, wood dust that has been decayed, as food to maintain its life, a vast natural in the forest.

with its trunk mainstay, this type of beetle is able to make a hole, which will become a nest, a shelter.

likewise with breeding, in dried tree trunks, this species, is able to breed all laid eggs, until they become adults, without supervision, if other insects, want to prey on eggs stored in, tree trunks, which have dry, in a standing or fallen position.

hence of this type, many develop and grow up. because it develops, in dried tree trunks.

below, as usual, for those of you who like to see pictures only, without any written explanation, I have prepared several images in the gallery, below, for you to see.

let's look together again, below :

After you see the gameri above, I really hope, to all of you, gar to avoid your plants, from this bug beetle, because this type of beetle is able to make tree trunks that live and grow fresh, until ... it becomes ... dry ... inside it.

this is what I can convey. hopefully useful and hopefully you are happy to be able to recognize this type of beetle.

I end with the words, greetings @sultan-aceh
