The end of meteorological summer

I once wrote about the different concepts of autumn and the different stages of this season. Summer is a little easier: there are three concepts of summer – astronomical, calendar and climatic (or meteorological).

With astronomical summer, everything is clear – in the northern hemisphere, it begins on the day of the June solstice and ends with the autumn equinox. That is, from June 22 to September 23.

I won't even explain the calendar.

But meteorologists are getting more interesting. Their summer can last as long as 15 days, or more than a hundred.

And everything depends on the banal average daily air temperature, which should be more than + 15 degrees.

And in different places, summer manifests itself in different ways.

For example, in Vologda, the duration of the weather summer lasted as much as 114 days this year.

And if there is still an Indian summer? Or is this already it?

When I said in mid-July that this was a stormy summer, I was a little mistaken.

Yes, the first half of the warm season was with daily thunderstorms and showers.

But the second half did not bring a drop from the sky...just a clear sky...every day...and the heat.

But it was lucky that there was no scorching sultry heat.
