A Son's Deep Concern, Urgent Prayers Needed: My Father's Heart Condition

Title.jpg

I haven’t posted anything for a last few days bczz three days ago I had an exam and also had a tough hospital rotations. I was spending most of my time in the library studying and when I came home I found out that my father had been experiencing severe chest pain. I had been telling him to see a doctor but due to various reasons it just kept getting delayed. Three days ago my father was sitting with me in the room and when he suddenly tried to standup he had severe pain, so intense that tears started rolling down from both of his eyes. He tried to get up and move around but the pain was unbearable. I immediately ran out to the medical store got him some medicine like aspirin for immediate cardio protetctive which gave him slight relief.

There were guests at our house, so I quickly took my father to the nearest hospital. His ECG and some blood tests, including a troponin test, were conducted. From the ECG, I could tell there was something wrong. It showed quite abnormal findings. Since it was late at night, there were no doctors available. I sent the ECG and enzyme levels to my senior doctor, who suggested an angiography the next morning.

However, I had an exam the next morning. After my exam, I got a call from my brother saying that my father was experiencing severe pain again. I said to him that do not wait for me to return and to take our father directly to the hospital for immediate treatment and also have the the angiography. When I reached the hospital after an hour I found out that my father’s glucose levels were high as he’s diabetic too and his blood pressure was also very high so we had to wait until his condition stabilized to homeostasis.

After getting the results if angiography it was clear that my father had three vessel disease (3VD, all three of his arteries were blocked, one of which was 100%. God to be praised that this was not his dominant one) The doctor explained that PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, stenting) wouldn’t be a viable option as all three vessels were blocked and my fathers had some functional collaterals which usually gets blocked when you open up the main artery by PCI, so a CABG (coronary artery bypass graft) was the best option.

We had to wait for 4-5 hours after the angiography, so we stayed at the hospital the whole night. Around 4 AM, we finally left the hospital and returned home. Despite being exhausted, neither my brother nor I could sleep because we were so worried about our father.

If you’ve read some of my previous posts you might know that I recently did my cardiology electives at NICVD, the largest cardio hospital in Karachi. I had built a good relationship with some consultants there and I decided to show him my father’s reports and condition and seek his advice to have a better recommendation .

It was a Friday, and the doctor was off in the morning but had an evening clinic. The day passed with many guests visiting our house as they had heard about my father’s condition. After attending to the guests, I left for NICVD at 4 PM. When I arrived, I found out that the doctor’s clinic started at 5:30 PM. While waiting, I analyzed my father’s reports, trying to figure out the best course of action.

Finally, the doctor arrived, and I quickly engaged him. He was very kind and took the time to understand my father’s condition. During our conversation, I couldn’t hold back my tears, and I felt extremely emotional about my father’s situation. The doctor reassured me and referred us to a highly skilled surgeon, Dr. Raza Rathore, for the bypass surgery. He advised me to bring my father in the next day for a checkup and to schedule the surgery, likely within the next couple of days.

If you are reading this post I sincerely request you to pray for my father’s successful surgery and his speedy recovery. All of us love our father dearly and I have a special attachment to him. I wish I were a cardiologist now so I could perform the surgery myself but there’s still a long way to go for me to become an interventional cardiologist, Insha’Allah very soon and one of the best. Please keep my family and my father in your prayers.

I wish you that the operation was successful. I hope you will write a post soon that your father is all right.

Thank God, my father is stable now. The doctor has advised him to complete bed rest until the bypass surgery is done. I have consulted multiple doctors and have chosen a very skilled surgeon for him. The surgery is most likely scheduled for this or next week. I'll surely keep you updated. Thank you so much for your wishes and prayers

Insha Allah, Tayaabbu will recover very soon.
