Different Customer Behaviour but Equal Rights.

You will agree with me that there are different types of clients that a business have but irrespective of the way the client is it is our duty as business owners to be able to sell to them, not minding what their attitude might be, so I am going to tell you a quick story.

Where I come from, it is culturally wrong to give someone anything with your left hand for some people it signifies a form of disrespect and over here it is difficult for left-handed people to pull through this, they are highly comfortable with using their left hand for every form of transaction so following this cultural rule is highly difficult. Over here respect is highly considered necessary and for some people they consider it a great disrespect to be given something with a left hand.

I went to purchase food stuff and the woman selling was left handed, she physically had a short arm, personally I really don’t see any disrespect in been given something with either a left or right hand, I don’t even notice a difference in it. Another customer came to buy from her on this faithful day and when she stretched her left hand to collect money from him, he became really angry and he almost turned everywhere upside down.

Basically, I was wondering if there was anything else attached to using a left or right hand for an exchange of transaction, I begged him to let it slide but he wouldn’t just listen, he has had his ego stepped upon and he was not going to take it for granted according to him. The young woman selling busted into tears and explained that she was left handed and showed us all her physically short arm, at that point I was expecting him to apologize but instead, he stormed out angrily.

Taking an example from this scenario, myself and the other angry customer is an example of two different types of customers that might walk into a business place, I did not ascribe any meaning to the young lady giving me money with her left hand but there was another customer who would not tolerate it but in anyways we are both customers and we must both be treated with respect.

The other customer who stormed out angrily must also be welcomed the next time he comes to the business premises, we as customers all have equal rights and must be treated equally irrespective of the type of attitude displayed.

Thanks a lot for reading, stay beautiful and amazing. I am @oluwatobiloba

Hello @oluwatobiloba.

What I don't understand is that it has to do with the use of the left hand? in what sense is the offense of stretching the left hand to charge for something, because they see it as an offense?

It's a very unfortunate aptitude because everyone has the right to use the hand they want and can.

I liked reading this post, I was completely unaware that these things happen somewhere in the world. Greetings and thanks for sharing.

People have questionable attitudes over here.

@carlos84 in Nigeria especially in Yorubaland which I came from giving out anything that has to do with you by hands must be the right hand because it shows respect while the left hand show disrespect, to my own thinking is just that I believe what is true to you is true to you to the man that was use as an example he shows that he so much have believe about the right and left hand thing and been impatient is also far from his his thinking.

But all those things are unnecessary for real, what is the point in trying to frustrate others for the sake of culture.
