The personal goals for your business should not affect your relationship with friends

in Project HOPE4 years ago

The number one reason why we have lots of frustrated people alive is that we have more people who depend on others to push them to their success or to even make them happen and when that does not happen frustration sets into the picture. When starting our business, we expect our friends and family to patronize us without even advertising to them and when that does not happen we get so angry and frustrated.

Some entrepreneurs limit the best of their product to the cycle of their friends with the trust that they will certainly buy the product, it is great to have friends who encourage your business but do not restrict your business idea to your customer base only, reach out for more clients who may not even be close to you and make them fall in love with your product by trying to offer them the best of your service.

Let’s say you have a good heart and you will never miss supporting your friend for anything and you are just starting this business, you believe they should be the first set of people running around, helping you with the process of sales and advertisement, so you try to choke them with everything about your business, all your initial friendship discussion goes down the drain because the only thing you want to talk to them about is your business and for some people they even pick up a fight with any of their friends that does not support their business regarding them as a fake friend because they are not patronizing you.

The reality of it however is so many other people actually need the product you are trying to offer and they will buy it once they know that they can get it from you, so you do not need to pressure your friend over purchasing a product from you. Let your friendship be free and based on celebration, practical discussions and friendship and not filled with pressure over you pressuring them to purchase the product you are selling.

Some of your friends sincerely may not even be able to afford your product, they may have a different budget from the product or service that you are offering and they just want to spend differently, that you are their friend does not mean they have to go back on their word about their own initial plan, they are your friend but they also have their own plan.

You know, this is actually a thing. Everybody expects their closest ones to be their closest customers, this is desired anyways, but most times it is not the case for some reasons which are no different from what you mentioned. But a good entrepreneur knows it's best to fly wide instead of getting limited to their environment.

Right, the customer base should never be restricted to friends and family members alone.

I was once angry at some of my friends for not patronizing my business until I realized they also have their own problems to deal with, we should not get angry with our friends who may not be able to afford our products, great post.

I have always thought that work should not be mixed with personal, whether friends or family. It's best, because certain relationships can be misunderstood and cause problems.

Absolutely, business should be left as business and family as family thanks for contributing.
