Creating a Vibrant Betel Leaf Mandala

I hope all are you fine and enjoying your self. Today I am glad to reveal the newest artwork – supari patar plate (betel leaf plate) mandala art With this kind of work, I find creation very soothing and productive at the same time.

Here is a step-by-step guide to creating the supari patar (betel leaf) mandala art, from sketching to painting:

The materials I used were simple but essential

---

• Supari Patar Plate (Betel Leaf Plate)
• Pencil
• Color Set (Including red, maroon, yellow, orange, magenta, green, and others)

Step 1:Start with Basic Shapes

At the bottom part of the plate start by making a few curved lines which resemble that of a half-moon. These lines are going to act as the basis of the layout of mandala.

Step 2: Add Leaf Patterns

---

From the half-moon shape, I am able to design leaf-like shapes upwards. Outline a number of groups of leaves, place them side by side in order to fill up the space with natural ornaments.

Step 3:Draw Kolki (Paisley) Design and Wavy Lines

In the middle, add a kolki (paisley) design, the given pattern enlarges the impression and contributes in mandala a traditional aspect. These lines will move the whole design and complete layout of the space. In the middle of the plate, there must be smooth lines and towards the top they should be wavy, to counter the designs below. It will create sense of flow and will complete the layout of these lines.

Step 4:Prepared for color

Once we reached the sketching stage I had the most fun painting the picture. For half-moon lines, I thought it right to use red, maroon, yellow, and orange that generated a fiery energy feel. The leaves-like shapes were painted in magenta and maroon to bring the cut-out like shapes to reality, and for the second layer, I applied green. The kolki design in the middle was vibrant in red and orange color which was a good point of focus. Finally, to complete the wavy lines at the top, I made it a natural scrambling yellow and green color to give that nature like feel.

The final output is a well-crafted betel leaf mandala of harmonious color where each segment emanates with different form of energy. This piece of art I would like to place in my room with full pride as though we can actually carve it like a sculpture, to look at the beauty of colors and patterns that blend in the art brings sheer pleasure and joy as we take a break from the art making.

It is not just an art that is used as decoration but reveals the focus, creativity and patience that goes into creating mandala as well as the allure of colors and patterns.
