Es ist Zeit für Mut - Mut zur Farbe ;-)) / It's time for courage - courage for colour ;-))

Sooo... Endspurt, würde ich sagen: Umzug ist quasi geplant. Was wir jetzt machen, sind Aktionen aus der Rubrik "Schöner leben". Wir mögen das ;-))

Erinnert Ihr Euch an meine Renovierungs-Berichte während der Corona-Langeweile? Da haben wir schon bewiesen, daß wir Mut zur Farbe haben und dem bleiben wir auch in der Provinz treu: es wird keine weißen Wände geben im neuen Reich!

Die Reihenfolge, in der die Räume fertiggestellt werden, mutet etwas willkürlich an, ergibt sich aber aus bestimmten Vorarbeiten, unserer Nutzung als Abstellfläche und dem Material, das am schnellsten lieferbar war. Soll also weder Wertung oder Dringlichkeit enthalten. Außerdem machen wir sowieso alles schön ;-))

Heute also: der hintere Flur (das Haus hat zwei Eingangstüren, die jeweils in einen kleinen Vorraum führen, von dem weitere Räume und Treppenaufgänge abgehen). Der hat eine überschaubare Größe, hat aber dennoch einiges an Arbeit gemacht. Die Decke wurde abgehängt, Wände verkleidet bzw. aufgearbeitet. Ein Sicherungskasten eingebaut und integriert. Dann ist da noch die Holztreppe ins hintere Obergeschoß, unser durchgehendes, riesiges, späteres Arbeits-, Billard-, Tischtenniszimmer ;-)) Die war abgetreten und windschief, aber die massiv eichenen Wangen durchaus in Ordnung. Sollten also weitgehend erhalten werden.

Die Höhenunterschiede wurden ausgeglichen und die Stufen dann aufgedoppelt, das Heißt, neue Bohlen auf die alten montiert. Sie sind jetzt stabil für die nächsten 25 Jahre und annähernd in der Waage. Nur annähernd, weil absolute Genauigkeit bei dem ansonsten eher schiefen Haus wirklich brutal schlimm schräg ausgesehen hätte. Ist manchmal so: Mensch will optisch getäuscht werden ;-))

Farblich hatte ich etwas im Kopf, was die Farbhersteller in etwa "Cappuccino" nennen. Bei genauerer Betrachtung wirkte das etwas zu dunkel auf mich und durch Zugabe von reichlich Weiß wurde es dann eine Art "Latte Macciato" ;-))

Für die Türrahmen wählte ich eine starke Kontrastfarbe, nämlich Dunkelrot. Das wird sich überall im Haus wiederfinden, es ist nämlich unglaublich passend zu allen möglichen anderen Farbtönen. Im gleichen Dunkelrot kommt auch die Treppe daher.

Die Türen selber wiederum strahlen in Ziegelrot, was die Farbe des Sichtmauerwerks im Türrahmen aufgreift. Man beachte auch die feinen alten und massiven Türklinken und -blätter, die im Vintage-Look recht stimmig aussehen.

Insgesamt bin ich mit dem Ergebnis total zufrieden und hoffe, daß ich nächste Woche ähnlich froh von den Arbeiten an Schlafzimmer und Küche berichten kann...

Was sonst noch passierte? Ein feiner neuer Estrich im damit auch fast fertigen Bad; der muß noch ein paar Wochen final abbinden und wird dann mit Gummikork belegt.

Mein Lieblings-Scheinriese ist emsig auf der Jagd nach seeeehr großen und besitzergreifenden Spinnen, die wir nach und nach in ihre Schranken weisen und die Besitzverhältnisse im Haus neu definieren ;-))

Drei (frei lebende? entwichene? unabhängige?) Hühner haben sich im Übrigen dauerhaft im Garten eingenistet. Genauer: unter den gigantischen Holunderbüschen, deren überreife Früchte sie nicht annähernd vertilgt bekommen... Tja. In den kommenden Jahren wird es wohl Holunderblütensirup und Holunderbeerwein in Größenordnungen aus unserer Produktion geben...

Und die neue Sense wurde getestet und für gut befunden: der Kraut- und Blüh-Garten nimmt nach und nach Gestalt an.

In diesem Sinne: wir schaffen dann 'mal froh weiter ;-))

Sooo... Final spurt, I would say: the relocation is more or less planned. What we're doing now are activities from the "living more beautifully" category. We like that ;-))

Do you remember my renovation reports during the Corona lockdown? We've already proven that we have the courage to use colour and we're staying true to this in the province: there will be no white walls in the new realm!

The order in which the rooms will be completed seems somewhat arbitrary, but it is the result of certain preparatory work, our use as storage space and the material that was available the fastest. So it's not intended to be judgemental or urgent. Besides, we make everything nice anyway ;-))

So today: the back hallway (the house has two entrance doors, each of which leads into a small anteroom from which other rooms and staircases branch off). It's a manageable size, but it still required a lot of work. The ceiling was suspended, walls were panelled or refurbished. A fuse box was installed and integrated. Then there is the wooden staircase to the rear upper floor, our huge, full-length work, billiard and table tennis room ;-)) It was worn and crooked, but the solid oak stringers were in good condition. They should therefore be largely preserved.

The height differences were levelled out and the steps were then doubled up, i.e. new planks were fitted on top of the old ones. They are now stable for the next 25 years and approximately levelled. Only approximately, because absolute accuracy would have looked really badly skewed in the otherwise rather crooked house. Sometimes it's like that: people want to be deceived visually ;-))

In terms of colour, I had something in mind that the paint manufacturers call "cappuccino". On closer inspection, it seemed a little too dark for me and by adding a lot of white, it became a kind of "latte macchiato" ;-))

I chose a strong contrasting colour for the door frames, namely dark red. This will be used throughout the house, as it is an incredible match for all kinds of other colours. The staircase also comes in the same dark red colour.

The doors themselves shine in brick red, which picks up on the colour of the exposed brickwork in the door frame. Note also the fine old and solid door handles and leaves, which look quite harmonious in a vintage look.

All in all, I'm really pleased with the result and hope that I'll be able to report on the work in the bedroom and kitchen next week with similar satisfaction...

What else happened? A fine new screed in the bathroom, which is now almost finished; it still has a few weeks to set and will then be covered with rubber cork.

My favourite mock giant is busy hunting for verrrrry large and possessive spiders, which we are gradually putting in their place and redefining the ownership structure in the house ;-))

Three (free-living? escaped? independent?) chickens have taken up permanent residence in the garden. More precisely: under the gigantic elderberry bushes, whose overripe fruit they don't even come close to eating... Well. In the coming years there will probably be elderflower syrup and elderberry wine from our production on a large scale...

And the new scythe was tested and approved: the herb and flower garden is gradually taking shape.

With this in mind: we'll happily get on with it ;-))
