Who loves eating fruit? Luckily we live in Indonesia, we can enjoy various kinds of fruit easily. From the big ones to the small ones, all are here.

Have you ever seen this fruit? Its name is black blue berry.

It is a shrub that only grows in tropical areas such as Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Physically, the shape of the fruit is clustered similar to black berries. But look at the tree, is it tall? It can even reach 10-15 meters.

Because the shape of the fruit is very similar to black berries, many people call black mulberry black berries. So remember, black mulberry and black berry are similar but not the same. Various types of berries are usually eaten directly, or processed into cream juice. The Muara Batu area, North Aceh Regency, has long been a center for fruit and vegetable plants. Various types of plants, ranging from cassava, secondary crops and vegetables grow well in this area with an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level. Initially, black mulberry was planted as a shade tree for vegetable plants only. The fruit was left to fall. Oh yes, this black mulberry can also be a pest repellent. Over time, it turned out that black mulberry had many fans. The most demand comes from restaurants and processing factories, as well as fruit juice. Residents also astutely seize opportunities and multiply black mulberry plants in their yards.

No less than 2000 black mulberry trees have been successfully planted by residents in several locations around Muara Batu, which are cultivated by residents.

The fun of planting black mulberry is that it does not recognize the harvest season, because it can bear fruit at any time. The harvest can even be done once every three days, provided that the tree is healthy and well-maintained. Harvesting it is also easy, just pick it by hand. But because it contains a lot of water and has thin skin, you have to be careful when harvesting it so that it is not damaged.

The ripe fruit is dark purple to blackish. It tastes sweet with a refreshing hint of sourness. Wow, there are many ripe ones up there, it would be a shame not to pick them. It's pretty good for a healthy snack during your trip.

But be careful, if you pick black mulberries, the stains will stick and it's a bit difficult to clean. Well, usually after harvesting mulberries, or eating mulberries, our hands will be stained, so they'll be red. I have some tips on how to remove these stains.

The trick is, we take a bunch of black mulberries that are still very young, like this. We just squeeze them until the water comes out. Squeeze continuously until the stain fades. Because if you use regular water, it is rather difficult to remove. So you have to use young fruit. The stain from black mulberry comes from the anthocyanin it contains. It is a natural dye that is soluble in water. The colors produced are usually red, blue and violet.

Anthocyanin is a powerful antioxidant, of course very beneficial for our bodies.

Amazing, right? Small but spicy 😅
