It's not uncommon when I have free time, I like to take my children to tourist attractions related to animals, because children really like to see animals and so do my children. Like during the holiday commemorating Indonesia's independence day on August 17, I took my family to Rahmat Zoo & Park, a place famous for having many unique animals, which is located in Bengabing Village, Pegajahan, Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatra.

Departing from Medan City to Rahmat Zoo & Park took approximately one hour, after traveling through the toll road, we exited the toll gate in Perbaungan, then searched for its location using Google Maps. The entrance ticket price is 20,000 Rupiah (8 Steem) per person.

My kids couldn't wait to get inside the zoo, so we walked through the main gate, looking around but there were no animals in sight after we walked for about 50 meters. Then when we turned left to follow the road, the first animal we saw was the Pelican Bird.

The children became more and more excited after seeing this bird, I invited them to continue slowly, but my youngest child asked to be carried, so I was sure this would be very tiring, and another consequence was that I could not take all the pictures of the animals here, because of my limited space.

Then not far away there was a group of marmots in a circular container, these marmots remained in place even though they were surrounded by many humans, and these marmots looked very cute with their colors consisting of a combination of white, brown and black.

After being satisfied to see and touch some marmots, then we turned around and continued this newly started adventure, from a distance there were several types of monkeys, but no we could not move closer to them because it was limited by a pool of water which might also serve to prevent the monkeys from leaving the designated area.

We continued to move step by step towards another area, and we got closer to other animals, this time we found two iguanas, one green and the other red, and they looked cool.

Then, on the other side there is an animal that caught my attention, if you look at the shape of this animal is a combination of cows with deer, very unique body is very stout and has long horns, it is a kind of antelope animal called eland, whose natural habitat is found in Africa.

Meanwhile my children saw a horse which is one of their favorite animals, among my three children, Kahfi was the bravest by far, his sister and brother did not dare to approach the horse, while Kahfi had no fear at all and even fed carrots to the horse.

The going was getting tougher now, we had expended a lot of energy, but our enthusiasm to see more animals was undiminished. We came to a location that had aquariums filled with pythons that had nice body patterns and colors.

What I like about this place is that there are also many species of birds that are placed in a special area, which is called the Bird Zone, some of the bird species here include:

Puter

Thai Starling

Jandaya Parakeet

Blue Indian Ringneck Parrot

Peacock

Actually, there were many more animals that we saw, but as I have said that my space was limited, so it was not possible to take all the pictures of the animals that we saw.

Before going home, we got to see a show where some of the birds were trained to do things like raise a flag, throw garbage and play guessing games.

I had the opportunity to take a photo with the cockatoo and this was the end of my activities with my family at Rahmat Zoo & Park, a fun experience and added to our knowledge in getting to know more animals.
