I've been wanting to watch this for a while now, don't remember where it came from. I'm not the best admirer of adventure , survival thrillers either, but this just seemed to fit the mood nowadays.

Deliverance's plot is woven around 4 men just getting a bit off their urban lives for the weekend by going on canoe trip on the Cahulawassee river. You know, I have never engaged in canoeing in my life, although you might have, with that facility provided up there at Kithulgala. I heard an elder brother from our university got drowned there too, while performing the activities. Anyway, that is just the plot, and the unexpected scenarios they encounter in midst of that journey.

There are two notable scenes, apparently somewhat famous scenes here from Deliverance. First, appears in the beginning, The 'Dueling Banjo' scene. One of the men engages in instrument playing with a village boy, the guitar and the banjo. Very entertaining moment. Second, is a sexual assault scene, man on man. Out in the woods, where nobody's visible. Sure, that's kinda something of an element to pull something like that in this setting.

Main highlight of this film, for me is the capturing of the environment. The way that the cinematographer Vilmos Zhigmond has captured these woods, trees, rocks and water has definitely given life to the movie. The backdrop is set around a fact that the related all area is being dammed and made into big lake, and the captivating imagery really makes us feel like this river belongs to mother nature and not to be touched with humanity. And ultimately, this works as a message in the film, this is what happens if you try to mess with the nature.

There's one negative thing that somewhat bothered me, a bluish pallette they used to show it like nighttime. Terrible, in my opinion and feels ametuerish. Music is amazing, in the vibes. Performances, I dont have much to say, but anyways, Jon Voight, what a beautiful man.
