Learning With Steem: (Basic Electricity Part2) Effect of electricity.

in Steem4Professionals5 days ago

Hello dear steemian friends I am back again with a discussion about basic electricity. I covered Basic Electricity Part 1 last week. Click here to view the previous post i.e. Part 1. Hope you are interested in these topics. I also think it is important to have basic electricity knowledge as a human being. So I will continue to discuss my serial parts with you. Today I will discuss about Basic Electricity Part 2. I have mentioned below what is in today's part.

  • Thermal effect of electricity.
  • Magnetic effect of electricity.
  • Chemical effects of electricity.

I will discuss the mentioned issues below. I hope my presentation about this will be clear to you. Let's begin.

Thermal effect of electricity.

We use metallic materials to conduct electricity. By metallic material I mean conductive material. There are some categories of conducting materials such as superconductors and semiconductors. In electrical engineering we naturally use conductors. Some electrical resistance is obtained due to the properties of the conductor during current flow. Resistance to current flow is known as resistance. So it is proved that the conductor will heat up due to barrier flow. Electricity is wasted due to interruption in electricity flow. Through the dissipation of electrical energy, electrical energy is converted into thermal energy. During current flow this radiation is considered as thermal effect.

Electricity is wasted due to thermal effects of electricity. It depends on the quality of the conductor. When considering the quality of the conductor, you also need to consider the cost. It is important to note that if the conductor is conductive and pure, the thermal effect will be less. So if you have to be aware of thermal effects, you'd be better off using conductive materials. But in this case the cost will be higher.

Magnetic effect of electricity.

We know that the magnetic effect of electricity exists. When electricity flows through a conductor, a magnetic field is created around it. The effect of a magnet on current flow is observed by the formation of a magnetic field around the conductor. There are many electrical appliances in your home that run on magnetic energy. Actually there is an electrical effect behind it. I am going to tell you about some electrical devices that are operated by electromagnets.

Electric motor:

How are electric motors operated? We can say that very easily, (electricity). But we may not understand the magnetic effect of this electricity. Anyway I am discussing how the motor is operated.
First when we connect the supply to the electric motor the current flows. It cannot spin immediately as electricity flows. First torque is produced here. What is torque? Torque is the tendency to rotate. That is, torque is generated in the motor when power is applied. And through this torque generation, magnetic flux is created here. After that the motor starts rotating. You will find evidence of this if you notice that there is no electrical connection with the part that rotates in the motor. Basically the motor rotates through the magnetic force. Below I explain the working principle of an electric motor.

Chemical effects of electricity.

When we pass electricity through acidic water, chemical changes are observed in the liquid. This chemical change can be observed due to electric current. It simply refers to the conversion of electrical energy into chemical energy. To look at chemical energy in electrical energy, you need to know about lead acid batteries. It will be easy to understand how lead acid batteries are charged and discharged.

Lead acid battery:

When a lead acid battery is discharged, it requires an electric current to charge it. Lead acid batteries are charged through electrical connections. The battery is charged by changing the water mixed with acid in the battery. Lead acid batteries require an electrical connection for charging. And lead acid battery is chemically charged through electrical connection. Lead acid batteries are completely chemical energy powered by electrical energy.

Electroplating:

Electroplating is a method by which the coating is removed from a metal object. If you want to remove the coating from a metal with rust or galvanizing, electroplating is one of the methods. Electrical connection is essential to complete the electroplating process. The metal coating is removed through electrical connections. Chemical effects are certainly present here, but electrical connections are required to complete these chemical processes. So it can be said that electricity has a chemical effect.

In today's discussion I discussed the second part about Basic Electricity. I think the mentioned part is necessary for us to know and it will help us to gain general knowledge. Anyway I am trying to continue the discussion as best I can from my engineering knowledge. Today Part will make us curious to know. More excellent discussions will come in the coming parts. The next part will discuss current, voltage, and resistance.
