I've thought about similar things before. Previously it might have been things like TV and air travel, but the whole concept of the internet would be pretty mind-blowing. We can contact just about anyone in the word with minimal cost. The Romans managed their empire with a fairly small team of people even without fast communications. They were are smart as us.
