Greetings Everyone, This is Shahariar (username shahariar1). From Bangladesh

When I was looking for teachers and topics for this week's training, this week's excellent topic hosted by @dexsyluz & @aaliarubab madam caught my attention. Although I am not a science student. Even then we had science as a common subject when I was in class six. I still remember that I gained basic knowledge about hemoglobin then. Also, I am going to do my homework with all that I have learned from this fishing class today.

Hemoglobin is a blood clot. Yes of course hemoglobin tells our body how much oxygen is taking in and how much carbon dioxide is being released. Also I am aware of another thing about hemoglobin which helps in making our blood. All animals have hemoglobin in their bodies and their blood is red in color. such as people Animals that do not have hemoglobin in their bodies have white blood, such as lizards. Without further ado let's get straight to the question-and-answer portion of this class.

Home Work

Death of Rafel Rangel:A famous Venezuelan scientist is Rafael Rangel who devoted his career to parasitology and tropical medicine. He died on August 20, 1909, at midnight in August. Many believe he committed suicide. However, there are several disagreements about his death. He played a great role in the development of treatment methods for various diseases and especially in Venezuela.

Through his work, Rafael Rangel's contribution has been felt in tropical medicine as well as in Venezuelan public health and in the international arena. His work is still influential to researchers and other healthcare professionals.

Describe Hemoglobin: This is what I understood from reading the above post Hemoglobin is a protein which is located in the red blood cells and its primary function is transporting oxygen from the lungs to the other tissues and organs of the human body. It also aids in the transport of carbon dioxide from the tissues back to the lungs and from where it can be expelled.

Hemoglobin consists of four polypeptides and each of them has a heme group that is able to bind oxygen molecules. The red color of blood is not as a result of the red corpuscles but the iron from the heme group. Hemoglobin plays a very important role in the body therefore ensure your blood contains enough of this protein.

Automated Hematocrit vs. Manual Hematocrit:There are two procedures that are used in the determination of the percentage of red blood cells in blood; the automated hematocrit and the manual hematocrit. Here are some differences between the two:Here are some differences between the two:

i. Automated Hematocrit:

Hematocrit is usually done automatically with laboratory equipment such as hematology analyzers.

  • The present method is considerably faster and more efficient than the traditional volumetric hematocrit.
  • The results usually are more accurate and precise because of the fact that they use automation in the process.
  • They require less manipulation of the controls on the part of the operator and is more immune to operator errors.

ii. Manual Hematocrit:

This test entails the spinning of blood sample in a centrifuge then using a capillary tube to make a measurement of the red blood cell volume.

  • It is more conventional in approach and tends to demand more physical work to be done and skill to be applied.
  • It can be cumbersome and may be associated with higher level of variation than acceptable levels, because of human influence.
  • Manual hematocrit may be employed in case of no availability or possibility of automated testing in a particular setting.

Thus, it is important to conclude that automated hematocrit is used in a clinical setting most often, and still manual hematocrit may be used in some cases.

Explained a real life example with the concept of hematocrit: A few days ago I admitted my uncle to our neighboring government hospital due to dengue. Generally, dengue treatment is very common treatment. Dengue can be prevented by regular tech care and healthy diet. You must be aware that in case of dengue, the blood platinum at least decreases. But at some point it becomes normal again with proper treatment. But my uncle had to face a big problem as he had low red blood cell count. But Alhamdulillah he is healthy now.

I have tried to describe in my homework as much as I have learned from your classes. Forgiveness of mistakes will look good.

I am excited to invite my three friends here to learn and explore this interesting topic. @ripon0630 @mostofajaman @mahadisalim
