Warhammer, Total War: Unite Bretonnia

in #gaming7 years ago (edited)

Ah, Bretonnia! A land of wines, fine culture, and acutely oppressed plebes; the villagers till their fields and uphold their lawful feudal duties while the Lords and Ladies parade in their keeps. This campaign sees it's nascency in the city of Courenne, the heartland of what was once a great kingdom - now scattered and broken as a half a dozen vassals to the Empire.

Ours is at the northern end of the sprawling coast, adjacent to Marienburg. Speaking of which, it is Marienburg that currently poses opposition to our lofty goals of reunification. Upon the rise of Loen Leoncur, they declared war upon our sovereign state - though little direct aggression upon our borders occurred.

With a swift hand, Bretonnian forces move north and cross the great channel between themselves and the heartlands of the Empire. Upon landing, countless Chevaliers and brave infantrymen forge forward in a glorious charge to make the nearby village into the latest conquest.

With little resistance, it falls to superior tactics and numbers. Lines of lancers cut through the scarce opposition that Marienburg managed to muster, putting a quick end to their resistance. After the loss of such valuable farmland and mines, Marienburg is forced into an uneasy peace. It would only be a matter of time before the next conflict, and then... Bretonnia would be much stronger than it once was.

In the meanwhile, Bretonnian forces prepare for further expeditions east. Unsettling news of hordes of walking dead stirring from the once-cleansed provinces of Sylvania rises, and the provinces of the Empire are threatened. Thankfully, our noble provinces are far from the lines of battle.

The question does linger in the mind, though. How long will it be till they reach our borders?
