2 Things You Didn't Know About Champagne

in #entertainment7 years ago (edited)

Champagne doesn't have to be just for ringing in the New Year or celebrating a special holiday

Just like wine, there's never a bad time to indulge in this bubbly goodness!

Here are two random fun facts about champagne :

1. You Should Ditch Your Flutes Right Now

Contrary to popular belief, champagne should actually NOT be sipped from a champagne flute. Sounds crazy, right?

It’s true, though! The flute, being as narrow and tall as it is, actually changes the taste of bubbly in a bad way.

It is much better to drink your bubbly out of a regular wine glass, preferably a Bordeaux glass.

The wider glass actually allows the wine to breathe better and makes it taste better.

It also allows you to smell what you are drinking more than you would from a flute.

There have been several studies that prove that smell greatly impacts the way you taste things.

2. Champagne Should Never Be Stored in Your Fridge

Champagne is different from sparkling wines like cava and prosecco. Rather than being freezing cold, champagne should just be lightly chilled to around 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

When you keep your champagne in the refrigerator, the cork ends up drying out and shrinks, allowing the carbonation that creates all of those bubbles you love to escape the bottle and also changes the flavor of the wine before you even have a chance to enjoy it.

Needless to say, you should never keep it in the fridge!

These are two very important things you should know about champagne.

Next time you pop that bottle whether it’s for a celebration or just to treat yourself, be sure you have a wine glass handy.

Also, keep it out of the fridge!
