1977 Deutsche Demokratische Republik Official Car Brochure

Imagine it is 1977.

Jimmy Carter is inaugurated as the 39th President of the United States in this year. Burn up of Salyut 4 Space Station (USSR) occurs. Elvis Presley performed his last concert.

You are not part of those events, not even remotely. All you can understand, is some small thread in the newspaper had read among all approved news outlets. You are still living the socialist fantasy in the DDR for the workers glory.

Now tell me, which is your pick of the day?

Sort:

Them DDR cars :p You actually have lots of good content for the size of you audience, goodjob my friend, you just gained a liltle follower

Hehe, thanks. Trying to make my way so the content become more wide spread, see how it goes.

Goodluck mate

Would we look at today's car the same way we do at 1977 cars ?

What - this car has a steering wheel and you have to manual hold the steering wheel ..such a retro thing !!

1977 cars are a such a great variety - with quite OK tech - should not have to be that shabby as thought of first. The problem here is that these are DDR cars - country approved one's. Not the best pack to start with , judging their sattelite sowjetish history behind it.

I am sure tech is decent. ..my comment is more of a musing on exponential acceleration in technology

Another great post, mate! I would pick the Polski Fiat as this was my father's very first car.
I remember back then he tried to make it look better. He bought new BBS rims and a rear wing. It was super cool :D

Oh, right the - 125p? That is quite cool thing nevertheless, better when I can compare it side-by-side with Togliatti products.

Here is one pristine exhibit at Szczecin vehicle museum.
