Will Litecoin be Worthless after Bitcoin Implements the Lightning Network

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

With Litecoin being labeled the "silver to bitcoins gold" with significantly cheaper transactions as well as quicker TPS many wonder for the future of Litecoin as the Lightning Network comes out creating much quicker and cheaper transactions through the bitcoin network. Litecoin has established itself as not only the silver to bitcoins gold but also sort of a test bed for future implementations of the bitcoin network. Although the lightning network will significantly effect bitcoin positively the lightning network will most likely first be tested with litecoin as it is to risky to test it on bitcoin immediately. Litecoin will still have lower transaction fees and also be quicker and although bitcoin may be used less as a store of value and more for payments another feature is coming soon and has already been successfully tested which is atomic swaps between bitcoin and litecoin. This feature will further establish litecoin as the silver to bitcoin because after atomic swaps are possible they will be directly correlated to each other. It is up to you to decide if you think litecoin will be deemed worthless but one thing that is for sure is scalability is possible and incoming.

Litecoin is how I get on all exchanges. I barely buy Bitcoin anymore. I did buy this recent dip at $8,700, but other than that mostly Litecoin. I also used STORJ to get on binance when they were having problems(I couldn't get any deposit addresses, except for STORJ) , pretty low fees as well. I do also trade against bitcoin, so I guess that kinda counts. I dont think Litecoin will go away, Charlie Lee has been smashing it lately!! I'm sure he has a few tricks for the future.

Yeah, I agree i actually have about half of my portfolio in Litecoin becuase i believe Charlie Lee is a genius and i think that litecoin is already well established and has great potential in the future as atomic swaps come out and more, I also like cardano because it has a great whitepaper and lots of potential if it Charles can deliver.

I like cardanos price! lol I've been looking at it lately, but the smart contract platforms are a little more confusing to me as compared to Bitcoin and Litecoin. Also comparing the differences is tough, but I'm learning!

Litecoin is a more user friendly, easily obtainable and quicker to move coin than Bitcoin. Add in the Litepay announcement and Litecoin will soon be moving into mainstream retail adoption. People want to own a full coin, not 1/10 of a coin. That's why I believe Litecoin has a bright future.

Have you heard the talks about LTC being added as a Facebook payment option? If that really happens, LTC value will skyrocket...

Yeah it definitely is possible and the recent news of Facebook banning cryptocurrency advertisements could also be a sign to avoid conflict of interest just as Charlie Lee sold out his Litecoin for the same reason.

Yes it could be, we will see ;-)
