Preparing for the Magician...Tarot and the occult project

in #art7 years ago

I agreed to complete a tarot card painting for a colleague's art show. There will be 2 complete decks of tarot cards painted by various artists. I've been researching and practicing different techniques. As, I've written in previous blogs, I am expanding recently into painting and starting with landscapes....then moving to still lives and portraits...then combining the 3 subjects into a coherent "1st art piece." So, in my wanderings I came across an interesting tarot deck painted in an art nouveau style:

This is the only one of its kind I've seen.... almost as though it found me. Much so, how my tarot assignment card was drawn at random... the Magician...my favorite card. A coincidence I imagine....

Anyway, back to the painting board...to continue my evolution.

Very cool! I've developed my own internal Tarot deck, but haven't manifested it in the physical universe. I just use an existing deck as a physical proxy for my personal, internal deck. Definitely going to be doing more work on that after the occult conference I'm organizing in April is over. I upvoted this post and am following you now. Looking forward to seeing more like this!

Thanks Jeremy. Let me know more about the occult conference. Is it public?

Yes, the conference is open to the public. Anyone can buy a ticket. We'll have ceremony, lectures, performance art and live music. It's happening in Portland, Oregon USA on the weekend of April 27-29, 2018. It's called Flambeau Noir and we've branded it as a Left Hand Path event but it is open to anyone. Several of the presenters do not identify as Left Hand Path and we always have plenty of non-LHP people in attendance. We tend to get a lot of Thelemites, for example.

I did a recent Steemit post on the conference here:

Thanks for expressing interest! You think you might consider attending?

That's wild. I wish I could make it. I've actually been to the OTO Temple in Portland. It was a good time... Portland felt like Missoula's big brother. I'll pass this info on to a few friends in the area. They will be very interested in going. ~Cheers

Ah, yes the Sekhet-Maat temple. We have been in touch with them and were initially going to be using their temple for our venue, but we ended up outgrowing it and had to book a larger space. They have been very supportive of our conference and even have their own reception planned for our attendees who are interested in checking out the local OTO group. I really appreciate your support! Took bad you can't make it out.

Oh I love tarot cards!!! The art, the meanings, they are awesome. I have started a small collection of my own. One day I wanted to create my own deck although I don't know if I ever will that's a very long term dedication. Very nice painting here!

Yeah I only plan on painting 1 in a month, then we'll see how I feel about doing more. I just read the post for a fellow artist who lives in Germany. You may find it interesting: https://steemit.com/life/@reinhard-schmid/temple-of-the-secrets

There are no coincidences in Tarot.
