Overlord | Season 2 | Episode 10 [C4C Review]

As we left off from episode 9, Sebas had returned to his manor in the kingdom, and Solution had just consulted him that lord Ains was waiting for him upstairs. Up to know we don't know much about Sebas's mission in the Kingdom, other than to gather intelligence. We've been presented with episode after episode of Sebas showing a kind side not portrayed by others in his cohort. Perhaps this sense of caring was something written into his programming by one of the great ones (other players in lord Ain's guild) or perhaps it's just his own will taking over.

First Impressions

Wow, what an intro. Within the first few minutes of the Anime my conclusion/theory about Sebas's free will was put to the test. I truly love the way the writers tell this story.

What We See This Episode

Last episode we got our first real glimpse of the princess at the end of the episode. In a dark room, she stood facing herself in the mirror, promising to kill anyone that insulted Climb, her body guard. Though this would normally warrant some warm emotions, because of the menacing grin stretched across her face( the bottom half shown in view at least), anyone watching knew -- something is up with this princess.

This episode, after the first portion of the story with Sebas, we're taken over to the Kingdom where the princess is holding a meeting with her "team" about their next raid. Her brother bursts into the room with another nobleman, but the princess shows no surprise, in fact, she's elated. During the conversation that follows this interruption, we get to see another glimpse of the true princess.

The episode wraps up with two more key character being tested on their free will. Both Albedo and Sebas are given commands by lord Ains, and in both situations, regardless to how the character has said they will act, we see them being consciously hesitant. This seems to be a theme that the writers are working in more and more. Perhaps, just as lord Ains has begun to change, so too have his minions.
